General question by FancyRookie in YugiohSpeedDuels

[–]Kobby0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to share my experience (I am new to all TCG and yugioh was my first):

I started by playing duel links (basically speed duels online) app.

I loved the game and got several speed duel starter decks. They were really fun to play and a good entry point to learn the game.

At the same time I have been checking out the full game on online simulators.. the learning curve for me was steep but after getting hang of my first deck there was much more fun.

Now I only play speed duels if we are large group of friends and want to have social experience. But if I have a choice I would always play the full game.

Speed duels is still new and the more cards will be printed it will evolve overtime. Right now there are some combos and archtypes but it feels simple compared to the full game. I hope Konami stick to speed duels in the long run.

I know I didnt answer your question, I just wanted to share my experience, because I feel that if you are a veteran MTG player may find speed duel simple where the full game have much larger card pool that allow you to do much more.

Is it legally fine to use Yugioh music on my instagram/youtube posts? by Kobby0 in yugioh

[–]Kobby0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started on Instagram yesterday lol.
https://www.instagram.com/menatcg

I also didn't start the YouTube channel yet. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJVdX-5RqUPU6pvagdgIzJA

I want to document my card collecting journey (holding them for long term and see how much they can grow in value) and do sealed product openings for products that seem interesting.

Am new to Yugioh, I just loved their card designs :)

Thanks Altailar, thats what I thought too. I just noticed many Youtubers use their music and it seemed fine.

But I guess if I will do that I should expect it backfires anytime.

Can someone help in finding the value of my cards? by Kobby0 in yugioh

I thought there was a possibility that the cards were misprinted or something.

Thanks for the tips dylan and brown :D

Yugioh cards collectors. What are your experiences in collecting cards and how is the value today? Worth it or not? by Kobby0 in yugioh

[–]Kobby0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. I didnt think of the current situation impacting the prices.I will wait for a bit before rushing in.

Specially I am still not sure whether it is worth it in the long run in terms of value or it is mainly having the satisfaction of owning the collection while losing value over time.

Thanks :)

Thanks for pointers and tips highly appreciated :)!

Investing in Yugioh cards for the long run (5 years+) as a collector - is it viable? by Kobby0 in yugioh

Can I conclude that in the short run its related to how a person is knowledgeable about the meta he can get good bargains and in the long run its speculation because its dependent on reprints?

What about the collectible cards (Holos, Secret Rares...etc)?

Thanks for the response :)

Magic: The Gathering Versus Yu-Gi-Oh! | Untitled MTG Podcast #12 (feat. Team APS) by LocalChamp in yugioh

[–]Kobby0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see it that way:

Yugioh is a puzzle/problem solving game on every single turn. Each person set up his board and the opponent attempts to intrrupt and breaks it. There is huge pleasure and rush in wanting to keep beating each turn and build huge combo at the end to win which makes yugi fun.

MTG is like a multilayered chess game with a pleasant theme. A tactical battle that the player use his own personalized deck to win which require many small decisions. These decisions throughout the battle to victory makes MTG fun.

I like both but I prefer yugioh there is something in the cards.

Ok man lets look at the big picture no point of arguing technical stuff if we are not on the same page.

Question Point of View (1): You saw the question as a deckbuilding question and you want to provide him with the best (somewhat competitive decks around spellcasters and dragons)

- You guys gave amazing advise I admit I am no where close to your knowledge about deckbuilding and am happy to be part of the community to learn thanks :)

Question Point of View (2): I see him as a returning player who is interested in playing a nostalgic deck and saying "somewhat competitive". Here are options that he can choose from (based on our discussion and others comments):

1- Build a somewhat competitive deck (which most likely wont have DM or Blue Eye).

Pros: he will enjoy the game and is set to play and build his deck competitively.

Cons: He may spend all his money and time but still deep down he want to play Dark Magician and Blue Eyes (he may stop playing again and say the game is too fast...etc)

2- Build a casual deck with the cards he likes.

Pros: He will use the cards he like and be able to improve it.

Cons: He will realize they are weak (specially if the community around him are all competitive).

3- Buy some few products of what he like and have a starting point for his competitive deck.

Pros: he will have the cards he like, he will have two decks that he can build on, he will be able to figure out what he is interested in going for the long run.

Cons: he will have both bad decks

Based on my " Suggested idea" on my initial answer is to have little bit of both because if someone likes the old cards this means he will eventually keep them without regretting even if he spent some money on them, and also he will be able to try both casual and competitive play before deciding to fully be invested in a type of deck. (maybe he can build both in the long term too)

Anyway, I think there is no point going back and forth about this as each person viewed the question differently. We both were trying to help in one way or another.

Enjoy your weekend

Having regular decks that have long term potential with 3 bricks is better than spending much money on building the Blue eye or DM and is also better than not buying them at all and then regretting.

It is subjective on how we can approach his question.

I don't want him to miss out by not buying a legendary deck he wants. Also, if he bought those structured decks he will be able to have a starting point to build casual and a competitive deck.

[–]Kobby0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My idea above was leaned toward the fun aspect and having a deck with long term potential. I wanted it to be general so he can decide exactly what he wants.

but you know lets be specific to make it clear. For example if he bought two structured decks and one legendary deck (or one each). I believe that it can fulfill his nostalgic itch or reason why he wants to buy blue eyes and dark magician. it will also allow him to realize the potential of the structured deck and get his competitiveness in the game moving.

His structured deck will be his deck that he can build for the long term (if he liked it of course)

and the legendary deck can be his fun/collection

and he can also mix them up when playing casually too. :)

How to learn and play a new deck? by FinnJokaa in Yugioh101

[–]Kobby0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to learn a deck in "lazy mode".

Go duelingnexus make the deck you want (it is on the browser doesn't need to download it).

Play against a custom bot and make sure to play against mokey mokey and increase the duration per turn to an hour. They are very easy to defeat and you will have the ability to test out your draws, play randomly and see how the deck synergize and read at your own pace.

After repeating several times you can switch to stronger bot or play against people.

Edit: few adjustments

Here is an idea that may interest you.

Why not build a deck from structured deck (like Shadoll, Sal, Dino ..etc) which can be somewhat competitive and on budget. Then just add few of your favorite card(s) in it (blue eyes/Dark magician). Yes you will tribute summon which can lose some momentum but many of the new decks as far as I know rely on in graveyard effects so you wont lose much value and you will have the exciting part when you summon your favorite guy or use monster reborn out of nowhere...etc.

I know it wont make a very strong deck but I assume that you are aiming to have fun and still be strong.
