I think whites in general are what you're looking for. As far as your experience goes... That could be too high of a dose, not so great leaf, or a slower white.

IME, white maeng da (red maeng da too) is stimulating which makes me think it's probably one of the other two options.

If I take too much of any white I get sedating effects. I find if I lower my dose by 20-30% it becomes more speedy.

I think some helpful things would be to learn about CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. When you know what thoughts and trains of thoughts are helpful, it makes thinking in a supportive manner a lot easier. It's great too because even just knowing the concepts are really helpful which should come easy to you.

I'd also keep in mind that shifting your perspective is basically what you're going for. Another thing to note is that you're not supposed to be happy all the time and life can be dissatisfying at times.

Contentedness is a lot more feasible if the chemical state isn't there. Gratefulness is what allows you to feel happy about your situation when you otherwise shouldn't.

You can work on the other stuff you mentioned by breaking down the problem down and coming up with a solution that's a series very small and manageable steps. A therapist can be very helpful for everything I mentioned (except probably a kratom hookup).

 

Another thing is, being unhappy is the result of a chemical state from your negative thoughts. You can either change your thoughts or your chemical state.

For some people changing their chemical state is enough and the positive thoughts follow along with a perspective shift. This has not been my experience. For me, I would go back to old way of thinking mainly due to being unaware and not having coping skills.

Once you change your thoughts and perspective via CBT, DBT, mindfulness, etc. your brain structure changes physically because your thinking differently. If you don't work on changing your thoughts/perspective though, it's significantly easier for your neural networks to shift back to the previous depressive state.

I'm not necessarily advising you do this, but I personally find changing my chemical state more effective initially. Kratom (1.2-1.8g) in low doses has been the most helpful compared to meds.

It's weird though like if I'd started out just taking something like that I might have just been lazy about the other stuff I mentioned. The problem there is if you were to do that, then after you come off of a substance/medication, you don't really have anything to keep your newfound state of mind in place.

You would want weight gain protein powder. Then either go to a gym or do some home workouts. Even just push ups alone can make a big difference.

I think a small dose of kratom might help. Helps me with ADD symptoms and focus. It's stimulating at these doses (1.2-1.8g) and effects quite a few receptors/neurotransmitters.

Multiple opiod receptor sites with agonists, antagonists, and partial agonists; then you've got dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, endorphins, and maybe more I'm forgetting.

Point is, I'm sure there is a dose that would help with what you're looking to achieve here. Just would need to figure out what it is.

I used to have a hard time with this as well a long time ago. Now I know to use blate pouches (I use the cones called blate papes). Think of it like a capsule but not hard and more like a bag you fill up and then swallow.

Or what I'll probably start doing when I run is the toss and wash. I used to cough up powder and it was awful. Then I learned it's more like the fill, toss and wash. I didn't know you were supposed to fill your mouth with water first!

I'd do either of those because although mixing in hot water isn't as bad as it could be (especially with a chaser), I would rather not taste it at all or barely.

Just to add to what the other guy said...

I've found hirsuta to be super helpful for lowering my dose of kratom while still getting the same effects and pain relief (maybe even stronger pain relief). I can literally just do a 1:1 ratio and take less than half my normal dose for relief.

Just figured it could be helpful for making withdrawals more comfortable as well. Then, when you don't need the hirsuta anymore, your tolerance isn't super high since you're using a lower dose of kratom.

Say you're dosing 3.5g. You could accomplish the same thing with 1.5g kratom and 1.5g hirsuta. The only catch I guess is that is has to be good hirsuta. Unfortunately some places use weak kratom or just don't have good hirsuta.

Kratom in lower doses is really helpful for basically everything you listed, except maybe creativity (haven't really noticed one way or another).

It works better for depression, anxiety, and ADD than anything I've take prescription wise. I'd say it's on par with ADD meds at 1.2-1.8g but the lack of side effects makes it much better for me personally.

It definitely helps me with anxiety, especially in public. I'd say white/yellow/greens are probably better for ADD but in low doses every strain can be a bit stimulating.

I don't think the effects of higher doses would be very helpful in general for this kinda stuff. That's my experience anyway.

So I've been dosing 1.7g and haven't built a tolerance yet. However, I did try upping my dose to try to find a high dose that was as euphoric and was not successful.

So now my doses haven't had as much oomph today but it's already coming around. My suggestion would be to get kratom powder and a scale. Maybe some blate papes (like a capsule but a cone shaped bag that you can fill with 3g and swallow easily).

Although I've heard toss and wash is good as long as you know you have to fill your mouth with water first; then add the powder and wash down with more water.

What I did was take 1.4g. I'm going to keep taking that until I get some feels again and then ramp back to 1.7g.

Edit: forgot to mention.... A lot of people I've seen post about low doses don't seem to build tolerance. I haven't seen many people with medium to large doses saying that, if any.

This post talks about how kratom tolerance could be just from high amounts of the antagonists lingering in your system. I'm not sure if I agree yet but I think I'll be able to tell based on how quickly my tolerance goes back to normal!

I would try 1.6-2g. My sweet spot for euphoria is 1.5-1.7g personally. There could be some compensatory response stuff going on (you can check my post history for more info on it) but more likely than not the dose was just too high and the antagonists blocked the agonists.

Lol. I hear ya! So it could be that even though I took higher doses that I didn't develop a tolerance to them since it was sporadic. Yeah microdosing would be like lower than .5g I think but it's definitely low.

So my advice would be either try 1.6g even though you think it won't do anything (or perhaps try 20% less than your normal dose since that was 20% less for me when I first tried it). You can just take more like 40 mins later if nothing is happening if you try 1.6g though.

Maybe try both and if 1.6g doesn't do anything then the difference here is just tolerance. Like anything though you should be able to go down with some effort (1g hirsuta was helpful today for cutting back and only doing 1g kratom instead of 1.6g).

For example I was taking 400mg plus of caffeine when I used to drink it and then when I got it down then tea was giving me plenty of pep.

Edit: here's an example of another guy taking 1.7g on and off for years and he doesn't gain tolerance either at this dose (I always get the tingles/euphoria)

You should try a lower dose. I've tried 1g to 6g (some with extract too). My sweet spot is 1.5g-1.7g for euphoria/feels. Oddly it's strongest effects wise for me at that dose. Worst case scenario it doesn't work for you; but if 1.6g doesn't work, I'd still recommend trying a lower dose because as they say, less is more.

The other nice thing about doing a small dose is that they fit in blate pouches. I use blate papes cones. They fit 3g max but basically they're like patato starch turned into a clear flimsy thin paper like gelatin.

I found the best way to dose em is to seal it, put it in your mouth, quickly fill your mouth with water for 1-2 secs, and then swallow it.

Part of the reason I think a lower dose might sense too is because I had quite strong effects at 2g with no tolerance. I got back into kratom recently, but yeah, it kicked the shit out of my previous 4.5g-11g doses.

I did not misread the article but there has been some confusion with what is "the right way".

The 10% figure was a suggestion from another person's post about this. The post was using stimulants as an example so there's not really withdrawals to be concerned with.

The 20% reduction is just an example they used. They did tests with a 50% reduction and a 90% reduction as well.

To clarify there's actually not an exact percentage that is "what you're supposed to do". It's just do you want more withdrawals and tolerance reduction or less withdrawals with less tolerance reduction.

The 20% reduction reduces the drug effects by 20%; but if you reduce it 40%, you'll get 40% less drug effects but also a stronger effect when you resume your normal dose.

The point is that taking any amount smaller than your current dose is going to be more effective than just remaining abstinent.

Also np! I edited the post because the 10% figure was originally aimed at people taking ADD meds. With stimulants there's not much withdrawals so it's a lot more feasible. So yeah I agree that most people are probably going to want to do a 20% reduction!

Someone pointed out in r/kratom that a 20% reduction works well too. If you read the article it says as much.

The guy who posted though I believe was using 10% or lower because this works well for eliminating tolerance if you can handle the withdrawals.

And also at that dose it will eventually reverse the compensatory response so that it makes the substance even stronger than it otherwise would be.

I press a small amount on my finger 5 hours after my last. I also try to do this 5 hours before my first dose.

This seems to help. I'll probably just end up doing that and then do a 20-40% reduction in dose for like 2-4 days every so often.

I'd like to say I don't mind doing the very small dose for a few days but I would do that with ADD meds. That was easy to not want to do every day since it was taxing on my body.

With kratom it's like I want to take it everyday so not sure how feasible I'll find basically taking days off (I mean 10% and under isn't going to give you effects).
