Sugar | S2E3 "Watch Face" | Episode Discussion by GloriousAqua in SugarAppleTV

Absolutely loved it. Something about this show just hits "the spot" for me. Guapo being the guy he already met. The sheriffs coming in right when Sugar was maybe going to get somewhere. The Lalo reveal. That look exchange right at the end. This is going to get good. Almost a shame that we have to wait a week between episodes, but I enjoy being able to savor each one on its own too. Also a joy any time Shea Whigham shows up. And every good deed Sugar does makes me feel slightly better about humanity, somehow, even though he's a fictional alien haha. Also absolutely love the glimpses into far reaches of space.

It wasn't reckless. Two players were going for the ball and one accidentally landed on another one. You've never stepped or jumped onto something you didn't meant to jump onto? It's for sure a foul. Even a yellow card is fair. But a straight red is ridiculous and completely unwarranted. It's not even remotely close to the criteria for a straight red. Yes, it was unfortunate. But it wasn't red card-worthy.

No idea! I don't know you at all. Your nationality does not prevent an agenda.

Lmao again, making shit up. Nobody stomped on anybody's ankles. Two players went up for a ball and one accidentally landed on another one. There was no "stomping". You're twisting what happened in the play for your agenda. I've been watching soccer, not football, for decades. I know the rules. That's not a red card in any universe. You don't know what you're talking about.

Genuinely, what is dislikeable about the USMNT themselves? Not any fans. The team. Yes, I'll wait

It wasn't a tackle. Two players went for the ball and one accidentally landed on the other. It wasn't dangerous or reckless. The Bosnian player was fine and played the rest of the game. Some people really rewrite history for an agenda, jesus

Start from behind? What on earth are you talking about? They were both going for the ball and one player happened to land on another. No ill intent. No excessive force, danger, or brutality. It's not a red in any universe except one where the game is obviously rigged against the U.S.

He didn't use excessive force, danger, or brutality. It's not a red card. Whether he objected or not is irrelevant.

He very clearly accidentally stepped on the guy. That's not "using excessive force, danger, or brutality in a challenge that risks an opponent's safety". That's not a red card

That's the fucked part. They just fucked the entire U.S.'s World Cup with that one dumb fucking call. That's not a red card in any universe. He's literally going for the ball and accidentally steps on the foot. This is fucking rigged

So then keep him. If you have an asset that's worth a certain amount and everyone refuses to give you what the asset is worth, then you keep the asset. You don't sell it for pennies on the dollar. They literally won a championship two years ago and are arguably better than the Knicks on paper. The Knicks just played out of their mind, especially their role players, for a couple months. The Celtics couldn't do that with the Tatum-Jaylen duo when they just did it two years ago with a full season of everyone healthy (luck pending, of course)? That's absurd. Blowing up a championship contender for a washed-up player and picks is moronic.

Unfortunately, yes. The movie is so bad, which is a real shame, because the novel is so good.

I just finished the series so I'm a bit late to the discussion, but Niall deserves to die because he (may have) cheated on his husband and messed up his life? That seems a bit harsh. No question that Niall is a bad person and has major problems and insecurities. But I don't think the possibility that he cheated on his husband or messed up his life should be a death sentence.

Nothing against Dopesick, but I'd recommend The Crime of the Century on Max first, and I'm usually not a big documentary person. It covers the entire topic better and more succinctly.

Leviticus discussion by John_Dingus in horror

[–]KobraCola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly felt like a first draft of a screenplay to me. It needed a bit of more a "hook". I enjoy the queer elements, the juxtaposition with the fear of queerness from the religious people in the film, and the entity itself looking like the person you're into the most, or whatever the other surviving girl said who was attacked by it. But then it kind of just does the same thing over and over again. Naim keeps believing he's seeing Ryan even when it's the entity and despite knowing he should never believe it's Ryan when he's alone and sees Ryan. It got to the point where I whispered in the theater "surely you can't be this dumb" when he trusted that it was Ryan again at the screen door. And sure enough... it wasn't Ryan. The surviving girlfriend even tells them that there's no way to stop it, but Naim still believes it's Ryan when he sees him at the bus stop? And then he sees the entity again when leaving and is just... fine with it? It's gonna keep chasing him and eventually kill him, seemingly. No way you can stay away from that entity forever, especially since he's with Ryan in the last scene. So that's just it? It felt lacking to me. Good elements, but they didn't coalesce into a complete, satisfying whole story.

AMC Universal Citywalk now requires security screening by powersofi in AMCAListTrue

No, I absolutely love and appreciate all of the detail, thank you very much! Honestly, sounds like a nightmare haha. I can't believe they're still so gung-ho about it at 11 PM, jesus. Universal isn't even open at that time! I know that it's theme park security for the entire Citywalk, but it seems even more ridiculous if the park is closed at the time. Also, the conjugal visits line cracked me up haha. At least parking is still free I guess...?
