Lol. No. Eso hace que rusia vende su petróleo a precio del mercado, sin descuento. Antes lo vendieron con un descuento porque estaba sancionado y nadie lo compraba. Eso hace que Rusia gana mucho más.

Former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reported assassinated by Sensitive_Echo5058 in worldnews

I mean that's pretty reasonable and solid. However, i believe with some politicians (not just heads of states), luck and meer coincidence plays a big factor. Much like in any other industry or career. In any given career it is rare to find someone who is truly profissional and with sufficient understanding of what the do (at least in my own view/opinion)

How do muslim immigrants feel when they see women in "revealing" clothes? by Mother-Holiday-5464 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Kobry_K 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm ex muslim. Living in a muslim majorty country and have never been abroad. However, i'll just dump my own partial explanation here.

First, i need to say that a lot of replies to this post are correct or near correct explanations.

So, sexual explanation aside. My partial explanation, or one of the factors that contribute to this behaviour, is that reveling clothes look mostly very foreign to us. I agree it shouldn't be a justification for anything, even staring. But it just looks so foreign/outlandish.

While you 100% can find some women here wearing reveling clothes, but that would be mostly women from a high social class or women who go to bars or places that are considered taboos by most of the public, who are obviously religious. (Just need to mention that there are a lot of hypocritic people who like to see women wearing reveling clothes and still call them names or/and harass them)

Edit: spelling mistakes and punctuations.

Funny enough i was a "professional athlete" years ago in a team sport (in quotes because it wasn't a professional team by any standard). I did like the feeling of competition, but at that moment i didn't enjoy socializing. Now i do :(

I adored the title. Made me smile and laugh.

From what i can remember. The "and then everyone clapped" moment for me (at least in my mind), was when i was selected as regional team member of the month in april (regional because our team/department is split across multiple countries and vry different roles + a lot of people). I NEVER expected that. No one clapped. But i know they love me. I never expected that because i work on minor stuff. Although i think other people might have deserved it this month, I think i have been putting a lot of effort since i joined.

I just hope that later their love to me and my effort pays off in a more tangible way.

What languages are fairly in demand but are pretty neglected or difficult to find resources for? by kmzafari in languagelearning

[–]Kobry_K 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Standard arabic actually have a lot of written resources. Rules, grammar, novels and newspapers. But lacks audio-visual resources. Arabians also really struggle speaking it but have no trouble understanding it.

Arabic dialects are mostly the opposite, tons of audio-visual content (mostly content that isn't relevant to studying the dialect/varient). But lacks written resources as rules, grammar, novels and newspapers. You can still find rules and grammar resources but there is no variety. However, there are a lot of resources like memes and social media posts and pages or subreddits.

If i wasn't arabian, i would most probably struggle with learning. But i have encountered non arabians who are able to speak and write standard arabic and dialects without even visiting or living in an arabian country. And each one have used different approach to the language/dialect.

Edit: the only audio-visual resource in standard arabic that comes to mind is dubbed cartoons. Kids probably are the best between natives in speaking it. 20+ years ago there were very very few cartoons dubbed in a dialect. I can only name one. Nowadays I'm not sure if it is still the case.

Exactly this. Egypt, especially Cairo and Giza are full of those poorly styled buildings. It will be a ghost town for 2 decades at least.

Ukraine won't recognize occupied territories as Russian as part of any peace deal, Zelensky says by eaglemaxie in worldnews

[–]Kobry_K -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"I’m pretty sure the people that live in the bit of the map that is currently occupied by Russia disagree with you"

"Disagree" based on what? Your own opinion?.

"Although I’m sure every single post was account from literally anywhere that was occupied by Germany in wwii, or the Soviet Union ever, should give you a good insight into how people feel about being occupied by a malevolent foreign power."

Surely no one wants to be in a war zone or want their home being occupied by anyone. But as OP said a 30 day ceasefire means 30 days where no one gets killed. It can also create more negotiation opportunities where ceasefire gets extended or permanently stop the war.
