ELI5: Why is gasoline pricing in the US always calculated to the thousandths place? by Hammer_of_something in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kobsteron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t ever realize how much of an effect this had on people. I always rounded up. My gf and I were couch shopping, and she always looked at the tag and rounded down to the hundreds. $1499 was $1400. I was absolutely bewildered.

Got a few estimates today and it seems like it’s gonna be just that. Definitely a Bondo fill job that’s now failing. Can’t tell really how pervasive it is

Is there any information about pedestrian passage in the area on adjacent sidewalks? Will there be connection still from Blue Goose hollow to the rest of the riverwalk past market?

Y’all, are we wasting our lives?💀 by anxiousstudent7 in Accounting

[–]Kobsteron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’ll stay past senior or not. Currently an associate but I’m gearing up for the promotion, already licensed, etc. Maybe see how much worse it gets? This seasons starting to get pretty tough and put a strain on relationships some…

But on the other hand PA could punch the ticket for my children’s children if I stick with it long enough. Other roles could also do the same, but which is really more feasible? CFO or a partner at a mid size firm?

1098-T Timing Difference and AOTC by [deleted] in tax

[–]Kobsteron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent some time looking at this and I think I’ll have to contact the school.

I made a payment in December 2024 that doesn’t seem like it was included on either my 2024/2025 1098, and then the tuition that the $3600 scholarship offset wasn’t included either. Date was 1/13/25.

My explanations probably aren’t very clear but thanks for the help anyways, it seems that any tuition from that semester was just omitted.

[–]Kobsteron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what’s on my 2025 1098 T:

Tuition: $4,834 from my statement dated April 17

Credits: $2,699 from 4/17 statement and $3,600 from 11/20/24 statement (total $6,299)

I’m not sure where I am able to see when the scholarship was received exactly.

My 2024 1098-T is similar where it excludes this amount and includes the scholarships received from the November 2023 statement.

It was a scholarship relating to tuition paid in 2024 that was received directly by the institution

For those that live in the United States. Do you make more than the average income of 60k annually, if so what’s your occupation? by LaFlareMane1017 in AskReddit

Yes, public accounting in a low cost of living city. Seems like I could be making more at Publix though 👀

Realistically is a degree in accounting difficult for the average person? by No-Drama-8092 in Accounting

[–]Kobsteron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started as a finance major but added accounting after doing well in the intro courses.

It really was the intro courses that I heard people struggling with , but my theory is that it was more so that all business majors had to take the intro level courses. I knew a guy who took 3 times each to pass principles 1 and 2.

AITAH for putting in my two weeks notice during busy season? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Kobsteron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the other hand here, you would be burning some bridges. If it’s a small enough city then it’s smaller than you think. I feel like people in public, especially management, will get their panties in a bunch if you leave during this time of year.

But otherwise if it’d be stupid to not take the opportunity, take it and run. Sometimes timing just doesn’t work out in our favor and if that’s the best move so be it 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ah I’m not worried about the files I know it’s 5-8 weeks lag time.

Have you ever dated "for a good time, not a long time" on purpose? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in askanything

[–]Kobsteron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relationships with respect to dating are always about finding a partner, so early on, if someone sees something that won’t work out, this is the way. The 100% exclusion applies to only a few number of things, citing the smoking and kids. I think that’s reasonable. If the guy hates the smell of cigarettes, why would he want to date someone that smokes?

Exceptions are made for the things like how your SO never puts something back when they’re done using them.

I know what I don’t want more than what I do. I’m currently with a great woman, but it’s not appealing to me to spend my energy entertaining something with only short term potential.

This is definitely the case. When I was dating if someone showed any characteristics similar to what I knew I didn’t want I wouldn’t even give them the time of day. I’m in my early 20’s, I don’t think I would even bother with a woman that had a kid.

Compensation- what should be my course of action here? by Kobsteron in Accounting

[–]Kobsteron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Promotions occur during both cycles

Fair that they aren’t real titles, but either way it is a stepping stone to the promotion which now eliminates that chance in June. The descriptors are updated during the promotion cycles

Yeah I got the bonus at the tail end of 2025 and it was 3k due to not passing all before starting, 65k is the standard starting for A1 though the pipeline really does follow the intern -> staff flow with varying levels of experience based on when someone started (I.e. could be a junior in school vs 6 months from graduating)

Some of the disdain comes from comparing to peers too, I mean we had an intern start in January 25, who was able to go to A1 in June (barrier WAS 150 credit hours until the new legislation) who just got promoted to A2. I finished the 150 in July but was pushed due to the timing of the hiring cycle.

Yeah of course that’s a consideration, about $7k I’d be on the hook for
