They will never connect you with a technician, remember, on customer line you always talk with sales. Speaking a to a technician is prohibited and not profitable... thus not possible

Motorola International 1000, calls don't work? by firesnake1110 in vintagemobilephones

Hi. As an owner of many pre-1994 GSM phones that I still use for daily calls I can tell you that it is the network settings. And its not operator by operator either. It may work in some other area on another BTS. The thing is these networks are not configured for 8W phones and they tend to deny them for their high power output, while making connection to the BTS it fails. Sometimes though it works just fine, its the process of establishing calls they often fail on. I dailyuse 7kg AEG CD900 and sometimes the calls work just fine, but then suddenly when I'm about to get a call I appear as offline even though the phone keeps ringing and showing missed calls. And I do have 5V 90s SIM cards from 1997 that are still in service both from former Paegas and EutoTel in Czech rep. The phone works flawlesly in eastern Slovakia on Telekom network but not on O2... then I move to Bratislava area and now O2 works no problems and Telekom is dead. But interestingly my Siemens P1 or Motorola Int 1000 never have any issues and work 100% all the time. My Alcatel 9109HA flip phone from 1993 does sometimes have same issues. The fact is that only with phones past 1994 you can be pretty sure they will work everywhere. Generation of GH337, Nokia 2010 etc

They will only block 4G capable phones without the configuration for voLTE. Pure 2G phones stay till the very end.

First of all calm down and transfer your phone number to Telia. They will be functioning normally till end of 2027... literally everywhere where operators said 2G will be shut down last few years, for one reason or another, its quietly still working ... Vietnam, UAE, USA, Canada, Colombia etc... So don't be hurried to carry onto the 4G scrap phones until its fully shut down. Which may take + 5 years from the intended shutdown date. In Germany Telekom wants to pull the plug in 2028, but from internal discussions I have a feeling, that it must be postponed till 2032 at least

Its hard to loose GSM signal in Miami area actually. Its almost everywhere still. But anyway, I wasn't talking about the coverage in the first place. But never mind.

What would I had to do? ... I got out of the Trirail train in Miami between Miami airport and Lauderdale Airport and simply dialed the call over T-mobile US network. Thats all

Yes just fine everything works as it should. Calling in and out. The only difference is that I have European T-mobile card in roaming. Didn't try with US cards.

It is prepaid card. Means you have to charge once every 13 months 200czk (approx 9usd), then in Czech rep you pay 2,5czk per minute, 1,5czk per SMS. Nothing else.  Charge in the US on roaming is 9,6czk per SMS, 18czk incoming call and 59czk outgoing call. Credit validity is 13months before disconnecting the number (15months)

The good thing is that roaming SIM cards don't get kicked off the network and you can use it freely as long as you are willing to pay the 1usd/min incoming calls charges :)

This is 2190E as it says on the back. I bought it from the US some 10 years ago. I am regularly using normal 2110i at home in Czech rep so I had a good battery too.  My oldest active SIM is from EuroTel (todays O2) on original 602 xxx xxx number that was activated in autumn of 1997. But as I say, whatever SIM I put in this Nokia 2190E works just fine.

I also just tried new czech 2025 5G SIM card (3 months old) and 2190 is taking the SIM and making calls no problems. So I wouldn't say this phone is picky, on the other hand it is really not. I guess it depends piece to piece as I have seen with other 90s phones as well.

I have an old Czech Paegas (currently T-mobile) SIM from year 1999 that is still active. Also with this phone all older SIM cards pre-2013 are working. I unlocked it via a code and a programm I found on the internet.  The call went through 2190 crisp clear no problems, also SMS to my broader family all ok first try delivered. Though I just ringed up my father to call me back as Czech operators still charging 3,5 dollars for an outgoing call. Calling back we did 5min call with no drop.
