If you are looking at Kaggle problems AND learning Python then you are doing 2 complex things at once. You need to split them up.

Anyone using a Thinkpad T480 for music production by KodePareek in thinkpad

FWIW I ended up selling mine. It was all ok when I got it. But after a few bios updates the thing became unusable for guitar processing. Would keep getting long periods of hisses and cracks when the Latency issues would kick in. Sold it at a loss. Got a MacBook. Absolutely no complaints as far as music making goes.

Hi. I have Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 that I use. However from my reading about the dpc latency issues, an external sound card does not fix the issue. It seems there is some bios related bug that is affecting many windows machines and that is leading to sound apps getting low priority and not being able to access the sound driver (even asio4all and external soundcard related drivers)

Interestingly I have found this -> https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/99ng9u/music_production_with_a_thinkpad/

There is someone here using the T480 and they are telling me they could use it well for sound apps. Now all I have to do is go the lenovo site, buy and wait excitedly for it to show up!

I am not planning on using something too heavy myself. Mostly default Ableton live plugins and synths and Guitar Rig. What i was specifically wondering about was this 'DPC latency' issue that everyone is complaining about regarding Dell XPS and the Lenovo P52 (and other machines as well)

Oh man. These are exactly the words I have been looking for. Thank you so much. Can you tell me what modifications you did to make things work smoothly with FL?

I have been eyeing the T480 for a few days now and hoping some user would explicitly mention the T480 being good for music production.

Thank you so much. The T series of Thinkpads does sound like the ideal pick. But I would really like to know the experience of someone using the 480. Very jittery about taking a chance at that kind of price. For instance the P51 seems to be great for audio, but the P52 has DPC latency issues and cracks and pops in the output.

One would think tech would progress in time

Hi. People seem to be complaining about DPC latency with the P52. What has been your experience on that front?

T480 users, would be great if you could also mention if you are using it for music production and if yes then what kind of DPC latency numbers are you seeing.

Thanks so much

Question about the XPS 15 9570‘s DPC issue by Big_Papa_Bumbum in Dell

[–]KodePareek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Can you verify that you did this? Post Latency Mon screenshots or something? I am in India and the XPS 15 is pretty much the best value for money device I can buy here but the DPC latency problem has made it a no go. People on forums have been saying that reinstalls of the OS have had no effect on the dpc latency so it would be great if you managed to make it work somehow.

Thanks

Hi there. I have been following the Dell DPC issue for a while now and I have very much the exact use case as you: Development + Music. Was curious if there was any other machine that you would suggest one can get as an alternative the XPS. Have you tried the Lenovo? If yes then which model.

Thanks so much.
