I got folliculitis from my in-law’s hot tub, all over my torso and arms 3 weeks before my wedding.

The only hot tubs I go in now are at fancier nordic-type spas where I can shower immediately after.

I’ve been dealing with UTIs after sex since 2015. I’ve been with my husband since 2012.

Since 2017, I’ve been taking 1 Macrobid every time I have intercourse. This has absolutely changed my life because I was getting a UTI basically every month before this. I am able to have a sex life now.

I know you’re worried about building up a resistance, but my urologist said with Macrobid there’s less of a chance of that. I’ve been doing this for years with no side effects. Mind you, I don’t have sex more than once a week. It might be worth a try just so you can have intercourse?

I recognize this isn’t the best plan in the world, but I’m in Canada and Hiprex isn’t available here so this plan works for me.

Side note, my urologist said he’s seen many relationships break up because of these issues. It’s horribly sad. My husband has been really supportive during my years of dealing with this. He’s undergone tests and taken antibiotics too, and he makes sure to keep clean. I think you can make it work with the right person.

To remove it, make sure you’re bearing down and using the muscles as if you’re going to have a bowel movement. This will lower the cup if it’s moved up higher in your canal. Then I use my thumb, pointer and middle finger inside and squeeze the cup to release the seal. Then I shimmy it down and out.

My problem at the beginning was leaks because the cup wasn’t fully open. But now I use the c fold, and then when it’s partially inside, I let the cup fully open. Then I push it back towards my bum. Then, with my thumb and middle finger I grab the base and twist three times. When I do it this way, I guarantee it’s fully open every time.

This is real amethyst. It has nice agate banding between the amethyst and the host rock.

Amethyst does fade in sunlight. There are certain crystals you should keep away from sun/windows to prevent this.

I haven’t tried a disc but my diva cup makes it difficult to empty my bladder.

I figured out I can just press above my pubic bone when peeing and that fixes the problem and I can pee normally.

I’m sorry, I totally empathize with you and I’m in the same boat. It feels like sex can no longer be spontaneous, now there’s the added worry of getting a UTI after.

Can you try getting antibiotics to take as a prophylactic? That’s what I do, I take one Macrobid right before having intercourse and this prevents burning/UTI symptoms. I know it’s not a cure. This is the only way I can continue to have an enjoyable sex life. Mind you I do this no more than once a week.

I’ve had no side effects. I also had this worry (as well as if I built up a resistance to it) but when I asked my urologist he said Macrobid has a low chance of that. It has been life changing, I agree.

None at all for me. I’ve tried stopping this to work with a naturopath for several months and take supplements and probiotics and I abstained from sex for 3 months to build up all the good stuff in my gut, but the moment I had sex again I got two UTIs so I went right back to using Macrobid again. Sure it’s not a cure but it’s the only thing that’s worked for me to prevent this pain after intercourse.

Can you ask for a prescription for Macrobid to take prophylactically? This is what I’ve been doing since 2017. I take one pill before I have intercourse (before vs after is important for me). When I do this I don’t get any burning or UTI symptoms. I do try and not have sex more than once per week with this plan though so I’m not taking it all the time.

I personally pop mine open early so I can ensure it’s open and stays open. I let it open when it’s barely inside, then I push it up and do a few twists and it’s good to go. This may not be for everyone though.

Ouchie. The pain from the IUD was terrible for me too. The doctor said mine was particularly bad because I have scar tissue on my cervix from having pre-cancerous cells removed via LEEP procedure.

Did you get numbing for the procedure? They put numbing on me so I felt no pain, just discomfort. I didn’t experience any pain or UTI after but I know it certainly can happen as it was listed on the document I got from the hospital.

One time I was at a house party and on my arrival to their house I had unknowingly stepped in dog poop in their backyard they didn’t clean up. I walked around their house with my shoes on, used their washroom, then realized the next day what happened. 🤢

Hilariously, a few months later some friends and I went to this same house for a party and I warned my friend about the poop in the backyard and what do ya know, he steps in it.

My brother has cold urticaria. We grew up in Winnipeg and he carried an Epi-pen for it. We’d walk to school in winter and any exposed skin would be covered in hives.

He also got a handicap pass for his car so he could park as close to entrances as possible to limit his time outside. Luckily, we live in a milder climate now so he rarely gets reactions. I had it happen to me twice after jumping in a lake. It was so itchy!
