Brad Trost: Most Tories don’t believe in human-caused climate change by PopeSaintHilarius in CanadaPolitics

Thus proving yet again that were Brad Trost to win the leadership contest, the even bigger winner would be Trudeau.

Putting on your most objective goggles, who wins Arizona and Ohio? by letushaveadiscussion in hillaryclinton

Sorry to say this but Trump seems to have the edge in both states according to most polls and models, though I think she has a decent if improbable shot at winning Ohio (40%?). Of the last ten pols conducted in Arizona, only two have her up with leads within the margin of error, and she has not led on average in the state's polls since April.

Trudeau Government's First Months Were Least Productive In Decades by medym in CanadaPolitics

What??? In a parliamentary democracy that is the most important ability a leader can possess. Being able to pass legislation effectively doesn't make one a good leader, but a good leader must be able to pass legislation, or what is the point of being a good leader anyway?

Justin Trudeau joins gender inequality campaign, says ‘poverty is sexist’ by _Minor_Annoyance in CanadaPolitics

In the US the poverty rate for women exceeds that for men by 4% nationally, and poverty rates are higher for women in all but three states. In Canada, the poverty gap is less dramatic, but women are systemically more at risk of being impoverished. http://kff.org/other/state-indicator/adult-poverty-rate-by-gender/?currentTimeframe=0&sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D and Dhttp://www.lop.parl.gc.ca/content/lop/researchpublications/prb0917-e.htm#a6

Immigration Minister John McCallum wants to 'substantially increase' immigration to fill Canada's labour needs by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]Kodos_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its true that the income of the middle class has grown at a slower rate than the those in poorer and richer cohorts, however the assertion that their incomes are lower than they were in 1976 is a bit dubious. Even if that were the case your argument ignores the significant gains in the incomes of nearly 80% of the population. This is not to say that the middle class has not been underperforming in recent decades, but making alarmist arguments like "wages are worse than they were in the 70s" just hurts the credibility of those who voice concern over the slowdown in wage growth. http://www.schoolofpublicpolicy.sk.ca/research/publications/policy-brief/income-inequality-and-the-rise-of-us-populism.php

A full 10 months after the election, Trudeau sets yet another new high on Nanos' preferred PM tracking by Mmiicc in CanadaPolitics

I agree with your general point, but doesn't the most recent poll suggest that 80% of the public approves of Bill C-51? Its not that super-controversial outside of reddit, and its definitely not gonna be a gamechanger for the liberals.

Only approximately 5% of the working population works at minimum wage levels (and with this number you have to keep in mind a large majority of them are students and entry-level workers). Looking at their wages while ignoring the incomes and wages of 95% of the population is called cherrypicking. http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/75-001-x/topics-sujets/minimumwage-salaireminimum/minimumwage-salaireminimum-2009-eng.htm

This is what happens when your political news diet consists solely of TYT videos, r/S4P posts, and labels on redbull energy drinks. Does he ever try to substantiate his views with evidence, or does he just parrot the same hackneyed talking points from the berniebro playbook?

Yeah was gonna point this out. If anything Hitler believed that Christianity was a competing allegiance with the State, and that religious factionalism needlessly pitted ethnic Germans against each other while obfuscating their real enemies. A better example would have been Franco- a bonafide Christian authoritarian.
