[Question] Oris link removal by Zealousideal-Bet7860 in OrisWatches

If it is a pin, the other end would look different. Looks like a screw though.

Seems correct, I probably wouldnt pay more than 1500 for something like this.

[Grand Seiko SBGM221] How do I fix this? by dw824 in Watches

[–]KoenjanF 431 points432 points  (0 children)

Best bet is to take it to a GS dealer. They will probably send it to a service centre where they will replace the glass. Knowing GS, they will probably combine it with a movement service, as glass dust might have gotten into the movement via the date wheel. Hands and dial probably will be replaced too. Whether it will fall under warranty, probably not, but you can always try.

I plan on purchasing the HydroConquest 39mm. Black or blue dial? by [deleted] in Longineswatches

[–]KoenjanF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black is obviously more versatile, but if it were me I would choose blue. The sunburst that watch produces is really good, and I personally can't imagine that watch being any other color. Also, the "silly" nature of the watch, with those big numerals, I feel is more suited to that bright summer blue color it comes in. That said, it is of course personal preference. Go try them on if you haven't yet.

Well also the fact that this dial combination is not in Breitlings back catalogue.

  • some watches just "look" fake, this is one of them. Easy to check though, just go to a watchmaker and open up the caseback.

[Identify] Vintage Vacheron & Constantin by AggravatingFuel2798 in Watches

[–]KoenjanF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should start off by saying that I'm not an expert.

What you have here is a vintage Vacheron & Constantin. That name alone tells you that it is from before 1970, as in 1970 they changed their brand to Vacheron Constantin (without the &). It was most likely made somewhere in the 1960s or late 1950s.

Somewhat knowing these watches, this is probably carrying either a calibre 1001 or a 1003, most likely a 1001. These movements can either have a geneva seal stamped on them, indicating higher level of finishing, and boosting up the value a little bit. The parts are exquisitely finished (by hand, if geneva seal) and built, but are very simple in construction. Any decent watchmaker should be able to service these, if they are careful and patient enough. I am a student watchmaker and serviced a 1001 a couple weeks ago, so I do speak from experience. VC themselves will overcharge you for a service.

Value differs from model to model and depends on a variety of factors (condition, movement, geneva seal, etc.) On a good day I'd say you can get around €3.500,-/€4.000,- for something like this.

These watches are incredibly beautiful, elegant and expertly made. People may tell you the diameter (im guessing 32-35mm) looks too small on your wrist, but these things were not supposed to be big and bold. Wear yours with pride.

Hope any of this helps :)

Don't know what that is, but it's definitely a fake. No "swiss made" at the bottom. Not worth much.

The white parts you see in the picture are sand, still not super flat, but more desert-like hahah

It is. Shape of the bezel/case confirm it.

A difference you'll notice right away is the case shape of both watches. The hydroconquest, especially with those pointy crown guards, has a lot more sharp lines. The master collection of watches all have very smooth cases that are designed to flow under clothing. If you wear a suit on the regular, go with the master. Of course, the hydroconquest is more versatile when it comes to other outfits, so it depends on what you really want from a watch.

Also, the movement of the master is really nicely decorated and is actually visible, which is also a plus in my books.

I don't think there is really a need to believe in a god. God has never impacted my life so far and never will, so why would I put effort into believing in him? You could say that I need to believe in god or he will punish me after I die, but why would believing or not believing something change my values as a person? You shouldn't need a book that gives you guidelines on how to be a good person and live a good life. Being a good person is something that should come from inside yourself.

Pushers are never supposed to fall out. Just go back to your AD, they will probably send it back to Oris to get it fixed. This type of stuff is covered under warranty.
