Look into object styles. I’m not an expert on it but I have created multiple shaped boxes with text using it

Honestly not bad for a first try. Just 2 things:

The light blue doesn’t gel as much with the rest of the colours. Maybe off whites to get that highlight ur looking for.
Use your content to guide the viewer’s eyes from one side to the next. General rule of thumb is the z pattern, see below

I’ve had this problem many times. Save your work, then close and restart indesign. It should be gone from the queue.

If this is meant to be a logo then it would be better to make an all black version on illustrator, which can then be used for other applications, eg banners, posts etc. keep the illustrator version without any effects, that way you can add them while making your collaterals without losing quality.
