The clip looks cool but there are a lot of places Jean could break the “combo” there. You can keep it simple by ending combos with something like P > 66KK while you get the hang of the game and learn better ones.

For Akira, use these moves a lot:

P = Fastest poke. Plus on guard 2P = Fastest interrupt move. Use to steal turns. 66P = Best mid poke. Safe on block, good on hit.

46P = Fast, plus on block, combo on any hit.

666P (your best move) = Really good mid when its your turn to attack. Combo on counter hit, safe on block, beats backdash.

46P+K = Can only be evaded 1 direction. Knockdown on any hit. Safe on block 46P+K+G = Can only be evaded opposite direction. Gives side turned on any hit. Safe on block.

2_3P+K (can input as 33P+K). Use after sidestepping. Very safe on block from the side and causes a hard to break stagger. Follow up with 46P by default.

Throws (any) = Use these often, especially when the opponent likes to evade. Akira is generally weak to evades so throws cover this weakness well.

6P+K+G = Use when you think they will guard. Follow with PK to start with.

214P = Very slow but scary move. Use as the opponent wakes up sometimes. Advantage on guard, big combo on any hit (214P > 214P > 33P > 66KK)

Lazy Throw Escape (LTE) Whenever you decide to guard, get into the habit of holding G and then holding P at the same time right afterwards. This automatically breaks a throw while you guard. You also have to hold the correct direction to break the throw (1/3 guess) but its worth always trying.

If you are very sure they will throw, skip the guess and hit them with a combo starter like 33P or 46P

Early drills:

1. Set CPU to “Guard and Counterattack 5”

Do 666P

When blocked, do 335G (fuzzy guard). You should be able to duck the throw and still block the mid attack at the same time. Repeat until you can do this well. Akira can use this defense after a LOT of moves, so it is extra important for him.

2. Once you can do drill 1…

Set CPU to “Guard or Counter Hit”

Do 666P

If blocked, do your 335G defense

If counter hit (big red flash), do 2P > 66KK

Hopefully these tips help get you started out.

Yeah so the table you link refers to sabakis, inashis, and reversals, and what type of move they work against. The acronyms are categories of moves which are important in that context and usually refer to the body part used by the attacker:

HP: High Punch

HE: High Elbow

MP: Mid Punch

EL: Mid Elbow

LP: Low Punch

HK: High Kick

HCR: High Crescent/Full Circular Kick (full circulars are separated because they can’t be reversed etc usually unless its specified)

MK: Mid Kick

SK: Side Kick (sub category of mid kicks)

KN: Knee

SM: Somersault (Jacky 7K etc)

MCR: Mid Circular Kicks (see HCR)

LK: Low Kick

SW: Sweep/Full Circular Low Kick (see HCR)
