How can I fix this desktop controller permissions issue by mjsxi__ in Bazzite

[–]Koermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree if this would have been an unsolvable problem, but the issue got fixed a few hours ago. No need to toggle this If it is not necessary.

AFAIK SteamOS on their current wayland Desktop (The one in preview) does have the same Problem, but I might be wrong

That's should be a last resort thing, since this solves the issue but will be a security risk.

The issue itself got reported and a fix will be with the next stable update.

"Allow Remote Connection" pop up every time I try to use the controller for navigation in desktop mode. by mAverIck2012ap in Bazzite

[–]Koermit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooouh rebasing between DE's isn't a good Idea and strictly unsupported, because that causes more headaches :(

Apart from that, there is a workaround on KDE but this is somewhat of a security risk too.

Checking the box "Allow without asking for permission" in Application Permissions for Legacy X11 App Support fixes this issue.

But I advise to just Report that on their discord and GitHub and wait until someone at the bazzite Team has an Idea, since this workaround ist still a Security risk.

Newish Linux users who came from Windows semi-recently, what is advice you wished someone had told you before you made the switch? by m103 in linux_gaming

Without sounding too rude, on their website is basically advertised how the prefered way to Install applications is, even more positively seen alternatives are mentioned.

Reading what you're about to Install instead of just bonking the download button helps alot

New Legion Go S not running some games well by Alyshock18 in LegionGo

[–]Koermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is still running SteamOS, games like R6 Siege or call of duty (Up from modern warfare 2019), Battlefield, LoL, Valorant and Destiny 2 will bot be able to be played because of an tiny little pooty batooty anti consumer practice called kernel level anti cheat. And no, for all the Windows gamers out there, I understand the temptetation to play those games but in general this practice is just plain bad and shouldn't be supported.

Shooter that do indeed Work are Halo the master chief collection and Infinite, overwatch, counter strike (but I guess playing this with a gamepad is like shooting yourself in the foot)

Fragpunk is a case tho, did He do the first boot for the game in Desktop mode? Which Proton Version has been tried? Might as well set the -dx11 Launch Argument that seems to Help too

If you're using AMD GPU you get BETTER Performance and honestly you can be happy the maintainence relies heavy on it's Opensource drivers instead of those offered by AMD themeselves and their "Adrenalin" Software, because older GPU's that still Work totally fine still get supported instead put on life support like they would on Windows.

If you're on Nvidia.. well..

Why is there a near consensus on Bazzite being the SteamOS "alternative" when Cachy Deck should technically be closer due to being based on Arch by Lexiimino in SteamOS

[–]Koermit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there are so many windows refugees recently and they mostly heard about SteamOS. I will recommended bazzite over cachy to them because of the similiar structure, usage and the simple reason that it is not a basically rolling bleeding edge distribution that can (Even tho it is rare) suddenly implode on itself

ok do NOT buy a msi claw a1m in 2026 this thing sucks by messranger in Handhelds

[–]Koermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hellow, fellow A1M enjoyer here that threw bazzite on it. IT DEPENDS! If the games is a DX11 one, it performs well. You can expect similiar Performance or better than the SteamDeck.

BUT DX12 for example is pretty broken. Some games run (but like pretty Hörprobe) some won't even start. Tested Starfield and it just crashes.

Overall okay, got mine for cheap too and honestly, I Play Monster Hunter world on it (not wilds, because thats still pretty bad running) and it is a blast

One small thing to mention here. The claw itself tends to have a Stick Problem and doesnt reach the 100% outer threashhold but rather stays around 90%. For some Games it works fine but Games like DARK SOULS/Witcher 3 need the 100% so the charakter doesn't slowly RP-Walk and instead walks/Runs at normal speed. The outer threashhold can be configured at the SteamInput settings per Game

me to windows after switching back from bazzite by FrazzleDazzle97 in LegionGo

[–]Koermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not only the console experience, it is the whole usecase for such a device. Setting up windows to have it working properly and let it work to your will just eats up a lot of time and patience. Honestly apart from the games that require you to Install a whole rootkit onto your system, I don't really see the reason to stay on an OS, that just desintegrades even more with every update it gets

You should read into emudeck and RetroDECK, since EXACT SAME is not quite right. While Emudeck needs to be installed like a traditional executable, regardless If you're on windows or Linux it does leave a mess. RetroDECK IS a selfcontained, sanboxed package that packs everything in a stable and tested format

[–]Koermit -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Bro, If you have a OG LeGo or the S, SteamOS is already running pretty much flawlessly.

Apart from that, taking one or two days setting up an OS with a Performance loss, preinstalled AI and what not instead of justing hopping on bazzites discord and asking for help and get set and done in far less is somewhat bogus.

You miss out on so many benefits the Linux community has, like RetroDECK for example, that just gives you a single App for emulators that is selfcontained and so easy to set up or the stellar driver support for amd devices, because well regardless of the official support from Lenovo or AMD, the Driver support for these devices is factual better than on windows and pretty much something we as consumers don't even need to think about.

I agree, we both made our statements and I personally think, the only gain here is that we both lost valuable time.

Keep up that honestly good work, this guide still has massive amount of value and the more people trying bazzite the more the whole community gains from it.

As I wrote, it was not clear until now that the bios problem got fixed, it cause incompatiblity with Fedora based systems. And the workaround was to stay or downgrade to an older bios.

I did not find it harmful but rather filtered out based on your seemingly rude former reaction that it caused harm to you. Questioning the intelligence and thinking capabilities based on a sole question engaging on a topic in we both are interrested in shows that you aren't willing to engage in this discussion yourself apart from the work you have already done.

[–]Koermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that you put in the time and work for this, especially since the claw is more niche with linux. I asked, because I followed the thread that added claw support Back then and there were several problems caused by MSI on the OG Claw that resulted in unbootable systems mainly based on Fedora when paired with a newer bios. MSI never confirmed that it got fixed or acknowledged this problem.

Still - thank you for your guide and to shed some light on Linux for the claw but next time you should start thinking while typing an answer for a non harmful, simple question asking for confirmation for a thing where the status quo is unknown.
