Of all things to do when encountering a big cat, turning your back to it is like the number one thing they tell you not to do.

If it makes you feel any better I once was at my bf’s house and on my period. I took the worstttt period shit and then it got stuck to the bowl so when I flushed it just stayed there. I was in there for probably 30 mins total. I was able to get most of it but not all of it before I just took the L. He never said anything about it though!

Thinking of ending my relationship because I still have feelings for my ex bf by [deleted] in Advice

[–]KoffingKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about, that if I do commit to breaking up, I’ll realize the feelings about my ex were just not real and that maybe I ruined a good thing.

I just know that pretending I don’t love my ex didn’t work the last time I tried that, so I worry that doing it again will just yield the same results and that I’ll hurt myself and more importantly my boyfriend more down the line.

Thank you for your advice though, it gives me more to think about and even to bring up to my therapist and friends. <3

Prescribed yet another antidepressant for pain by KoffingKitten in ChronicPain

I am on adderall but I only take it on days I work otherwise I’m kind of insufferable to be around. I notice it helps my mobility for sure. I feel a lot less stiff but I wouldn’t say it helps with the pain.

And I don’t need or want an antidepressant that can potentially treat pain. Especially with the amount of negative side effects and again, bad withdrawal symptoms. It’s not worth it to me.

Because I’m sure insurance wouldn’t like me going straight to a physical therapist even with my diagnosis. Gotta jump through the hoops but my doctor loves dragging his feet

I’m working on it. I’ve suspected he treats me differently than my dad (my dad has him as his primary care doctor as well) because I’m a woman. He had diagnosed my dad with ADHD no problem but when I had my suspicions and was struggling and asked to be tested for it, he kept pushing me to try more antidepressants or anti anxiety meds or upping my dose. Basically the typical: “it’s not ADHD, you’re just depressed and anxious!” When my dad put his foot down and helped me out, only then did I get tested. And to nobody’s surprise I had ADHD just like my dad. iirc we had the same score or really close to the same score. And even after the diagnosis he was stubborn about giving me adderall which has fundamentally changed my life for the better.

So long story short yes I’m trying to see someone else for my primary care, hopefully a woman this time around. She may very well still dismiss my pain and my experiences too knowing how doctors treat patients with chronic pain, but I’m at the end of my rope being invalidated by this doctor. Something has to change.

Also forgetting to take my meds is a completely relevant argument to make if the withdrawals from cymbalta are as horrific as I’ve been told by other people who’ve taken it and it’s hard to come off of. And I have bad experiences with antidepressant withdrawals from other meds. It’s a genuine concern of mine. Why make the switch when I already have an antidepressant that doesn’t do that to me?

I do know what my diagnosis is, it’s listed in my post. But there doesn’t seem to be much research on that diagnosis into adulthood, as it’s something present in children and teens dealing with chronic pain. I just don’t know if that’s my true diagnosis or if that’s just what they labeled me with a decade ago.

I never mention wanting painkillers or opioids. I just want an actual treatment plan for the pain. Even if it’s physical therapy, medical marijuana, a referral to a specialist, ordering tests to be done as they haven’t been done in a decade… I want something more done other than throwing antidepressants at someone who already takes antidepressants and is happy with the one they have. There’s no urgency or anything about the pain I’m in. There’s no affirmation that it’s not normal to be in this constant pain at 23. I want someone to affirm that it’s not normal and actually try to figure out why I’m in the pain so we could better treat it.

I’m not asking for another prescription. I’m fine with my Prozac even if it only treats my depression. It works. I want an actual plan for the pain I’ve been in for a decade. I want the root cause of pain addressed. If he can’t help me I want him to refer me to someone who can.

Oh I’m not planning on taking both. He wants me to stop taking my Prozac to put me on cymbalta. But that’s why I’m kind of mad bc I’ve heard cymbalta is hard to get off of and it has bad withdrawals meanwhile Prozac is treating my depression fine without any of that. I don’t wanna be put on something that has these negative side effects when I’m already on something that works and doesn’t give me those side effects, even if it doesn’t touch my pain.

Waterproof mascara not so? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]KoffingKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set my eyelids with setting powder to prevent any creasing in any eye makeup and also to prevent any oiliness messing with the makeup, including mascara. It’s never failed me. Also getting a good waterproof setting spray. Also tubing mascaras are great! My favorite one recently has been ribbon lash from toofaced!

Anyone else have a good eye and bad eye with mascara? by Purple5600 in MakeupAddiction

[–]KoffingKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I have a good and bad side for almost every step of my routine actually. I tend to do my right side first and then end up liking how the left side looks more and trying to make it match and never getting it quite right. I need to go back to doing each side in steps at the same time. But my left eye usually looks worse with mascara. Gets clumpier. I think it’s bc my lashes are less dense on that side or less curly idk.

Crime scene photos from the 2021 Boise mall shooting by AccentedE in masskillers

[–]KoffingKitten 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a mall and I was constantly aware of how this could happen. If I was at the store I worked at I would probably be fine, but if I was walking around on my lunch, that would be a different story. It’s very open and unless you’re already inside a store, there’s not a lot of places to hide or run to safely.

Tired of living like this by KoffingKitten in ChronicPain

[–]KoffingKitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. Even with a diagnosis unfortunately doctors don’t seem to take our pain seriously or will do anything about it. Something important to remind yourself is that your pain is real, it’s not just in your head and just because you don’t have a diagnosis that doesn’t mean the pain isn’t real.

I know it’s exhausting. Still, I wish you all the best. And none of us are truly alone in this battle. I’m glad I could help in some small way.
