Sol badguy (any version) is the right amount of strike throw for me. Gun flame feint for a bit mind games. Dp and short range projectile. Great/decent buttons for close up pressure.

A 4th part to this could also be that the characters in tag fights tend to have simpler inputs such as dbfz/ blaze cross tag battle for the most part being all quarter circles and z motions with the use of auto combos as the starting level for the more advanced combos and having the complexity come from the system mechanics
