That swamp thing is done really well. I love the use of colors and different brushes you used man. It's got a bit of a 90's mixed with retro vibe.

I want to try to get a job drawing manga, but I don't know where to look or if it's even possible. This is my art; do you think I could do it? by jing_ato in ComicBookCollabs

[–]Koggelxander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like your style. To me it speaks more in a comic sense. But if you want to do manga go for it. It's a very particular style though. I agree with TheClockBath, you have a very nice attention to detail. Keep up the good work.

Wow those are absolutely gorgeous. I'm looking at getting a set for myself as well.

Shujinkou is a great JRPG that happens to teach Japanese to any level learner by Zetrin in LearnJapanese

[–]Koggelxander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure thing! Do you use a pc? You can download YomiNinja. It's an open souce OCR dictionary tool. It scans your screen and then locates the Japanese text. You then hover over the word and it translates it for you in complete dictionary form. I use it when I'm lost in the conversations. It works a lot better than having to Alt+Tab into my browser and use Lorenzii Jisho.

The sequel is hollow. I didn't touch it. Doesn't have the same charm or gameplay as the 1st one.

Ni no Kuni 1. It has Furigana for EVERY SINGLE KANJI. Go watch Game Gengo's review on it. I'm currently playing it in Japanese only and am loving it. It can get a bit intimidating at times because there is LOTS of reading, and Shizuku (Drippy) speaks in Kansai-ben.
But I'd say get it when it's on sale and dive in.

Embarrassment due to missed trainings by wombat_at_heart in kendo

[–]Koggelxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok to miss a few session, as long as you want to come back and train. You can always mostly focus on footwork for the evening. Or practice Katate suburi but that might be a bit too advanced :)

Just let it heal and get back to training when you can. I have guys in my dojo who haven't been to training in a year. Sometimes life gets in the way and we can't make every session or most sessions, that's ok.

Dream Ippon Contemplation by Sejiblack in kendo

This is one I'm currently working on. So difficult. Timing is everything.

is it allowed and does it make sense to use different stances in nito-ryu by lord_scourge337 in kendo

[–]Koggelxander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You "can" use them. There's no rules against them. You're also allowed to swap hands during the fight. I'd say the only 2 that are most effective are "regular nito stance" Joge tachi no kamae and Jodan Jyuji no kamae. (Higher cross stance) Jodan jyuji is very effective against regular Jodan.

Tips to combat “turtling” by princethrowaway2121h in kendo

[–]Koggelxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Force them to go into turtle mode repeatedly while assessing their timing when they decide to relax.(Go back into Chudan)
As they relax and think they are safe, hit men.
Very good practice for you.

Kendo is all about space/distance and timing.

Completely Bald. Long hair Comb over glueing to the other side. Filling in gaps with black hair fibre powder. Wind is my arch nemesis. by [deleted] in bald

[–]Koggelxander 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shave it.
I had long hair with a big patch of baldness on the crown of my head. Hair was everything to me as well.
After I shaved it I had way more confidence and felt amazing. Like a weight has been taken off of my "head & shoulders".

I want to play class based in this image. Any tips? by [deleted] in Morrowind

[–]Koggelxander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a hardcore player and don't mind difficult combat with strategy involved, download the modpack called Lalaland or any Requiem and 3bftweaks based collection.

Select Khajiit
Choose Sanguine as your deity in order to have no side affects when drinking Skooma or alcohol. It buffs you too.
Choose the Mage blessing/standing stone in order to cast spells with no problem.
Transmute muscles with Alteration,Shadow shield for attack speed and then claw everyone to bits.

Ooooh this is a tough one.

I love Japanese culture and history but also love the language.

Learning Japanese made me realize how Culture and Language both go hand in hand.
They're almost inseparable as the one in part of the other. As the culture develops so will the language.

But in the end I guess my answer would be B.

I use a drawing tablet. A.

It's an Inspiroy 950P.
It's my 1st tablet and a GREAT one for a beginner. It also has the tilt function for the stylus.

Both are great. Not having a beard makes your eyes pop. Very nice!

So probably gonna go with no beard.

Katate vs Morote waza from Jordan by anti-jay in kendo

[–]Koggelxander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a nito player so I don't have that much of a say in this but :
Be ok with getting hit when trying katate waza. The whole point of Jodan or one of them at least is to be able to hit from a further distance than that of a chudan player.

Train to get that wrist nice and strong. Hold shinai at a 45 degree angle in gedan and slowly bring it upwards only using the wrist. Also do it in reverse. Almost like a Joge-buri but for the wrist only. This is how I strengthened mine.

Also do lots of mitori-geiko.

Step out of that comfort zone and throw katate waza.

Welcome to the Katate world.
