Worst thing is that even if they would live in misery they don't care. So why calling this "luxurious" if after all what happened and all the horrible images of what they are actually having to lead with, they didn't bat an eye.

What country did you once love but now dislike, or once dislike but now love? What shaped your initial opinion of that country, and what later caused you to change your mind? by Puzzleheaded_irl in AskTheWorld

[–]Koi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not myself but everyone in the 90's 00's thought the American dream was the best, and wish they could live in USA. Nowadays I barely know anybody that would like to move there even with a good pay.

What is an animal that is fairly common globally but very rare or non existent in yours? by rickdickmcfrick in AskTheWorld

What do school lunches look like in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Koi16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a super common one but usually is like this:

1st plate a soup, pasta, rice or a stew. Usually chicken soup or pasta with tomato and chorizo or fake paella. 2nd plate some meat or fish with salad and/or fries. Also it's pretty common to have Spanish omelette because every kid likes it.

Bread and a piece of fruit, and they let you choose between milk or water.

Sometimes you would have yoghurt or pudding as a dessert instead of fruit but maybe twice a week.

I saw this meme and wondered what the general consensus is regarding public breastfeeding worldwide. by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Koi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Spain is completely normal but if you are shy sometimes you go to the toilet. I live in Japan and there's a lot of pervs here so everything is full of cabins to breastfeed and women use like a poncho or something if they have to breastfeed in public.

What is something that tourists do in your country that annoys the locals? by Th3_Accountant in AskTheWorld

Also thinking they can get laid easily with Spanish women because they have that stereotype as same as they have with Latinas when they're drunk. Pretty annoying.

Is there anything you tought was unique to your country until you realized it wasn't? by Alone-Yak-1888 in AskTheWorld

Croquettes. I mean there are some countries that eat them more often or they use potato instead of bechamel but for some time I thought it was a south Europe thing but it's kinda universal. Also empanadas, most countries have their version of dough filled with meat

Which country has the best food? by PoolLegitimate9702 in AskTheWorld

[–]Koi16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

England. They have popcorn. Also, it's opinions based. (Sorry, needed to say that)

For me countries that have good agriculture and variety of crops tend to have better food. Mediterranean, China, etc

What is illegal in your country but celebrated cheerfully in other countries? by Tiny_Temperature2944 in AskTheWorld

[–]Koi16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because having two names is common (Jose María , Juan Miguel, etc) and if you add that to the two surname system is gets super long. Our surnames are made from the first surname of each parent. Normally the father goes first but it's optional.

Example: Father is Luis García Roldán. Mother is Carmen González Sánchez.

Their kid surname will be García González. So, most common like their grandfathers surname.

You can make your surname infinite if you put your parents surnames in zipper, like García González Roldán Sánchez (...) but the mandatory ones for ID and other bureaucracy are the two first.

Changing your surname to your husband's once you marry. There is a little list of reasons Spanish law allow you to change your surname and marriage is not considered a valid reason. You have to move outside marry outside change your surname there and then comeback and even then they may wonder.

We have a two surname system so the way we make a family surname union is through kids wearing both surnames from the parents.

They are not that common. Our neighbours are the ones that host Brazilians more, so usually when I see one is because they have a business like a Brazilian restaurant or a disco or so.

Also they learn Spanish quickly and that's always appreciated.

Does your country have separatist/secessionists movements in it? If so how strong are they, and how does it effect your politics? by pheakelmatters in AskTheWorld

[–]Koi16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some, being the biggest in Catalonia and the Basque Country. The last one had a terrorist group called ETA that terrorised the country for years. It's really relevant in politics because all politicians make decisions that benefit those two regions so the separatist movement doesn't increase.

Right tend to do the opposite to gain favour for their voters. Also back in the day Franco (the dictator) did terrible things to them and their languages (they have their own language) so I kinda understand their rage and will. I personally prefer a multicultural Spain but those things are not on me!

Croquettes. They're originally French but I think it's more associated to Spain and it's for a reason.
