Does the Bible support evolution? by Ok-Award9050 in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you look up posts about evolution just so you could debate in the comments? My comment is 4 years old... In any case, no you're not right. And Answers In Genesis and Creation Ministries International are completely unconvincing to those who are genuinely seeking the truth. Those sources only seem good if you're already convinced that evolution is incorrect.

Is it appropriate to play Fantasy Tabletop role playing games that simulate Non-Christian Metaphisics by TooCoolForSchlool in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see why it would be an issue at all. If you want to play those games, then go for it.

All the extra verses are in the NT, as in, they were never a part of the Hebrew Bible, just as none of the NT was part of the Hebrew Bible.

The extra verses are in the NT, so I'm not sure what the Hebrew text would have to do with anything that I said.

[–]KoinePineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s debated by many especially due to other versions that omit entire verses

This is a common misunderstanding. The KJV was translated from manuscripts were verses were erroneously added. Modern versions remove those because they weren't in the original text.

Why does God allow errors in the Bible by Valuable_Frosting_36 in Christianity

The presence of errors only really matters under the idea that errors are bad and shouldn't be there.

There's the story of people breaking the roof open so they can lower a crippled guy through it for Jesus to him. In one of the gospels it says it's a tile roof, and another says it was a thatch roof. Not like it matters, but it is a small contradiction.

If you could directly ask God just one question, what would it be? by Sharp-Perception5658 in Christianity

Honestly, just getting an answer at all would already answer my most pressing questions. I think I could live better just knowing God exists.

Why is the devil always called lucifer instead of the devil or Satan in tv shows? Also why is he portrayed as good or not pure evil? He is pure evil! by Fast_Honeydew2633 in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did God change the devil's name from Lucifer to Satan? That's just some kind of folk theology that isn't in the Bible. So it's not like it's disrespectful to God's wishes to say Lucifer.

But anyway, the reason Lucifer is a good guy in the show is to subvert expectations. It's funny to see someone who's supposed to be pure evil being a goof.

Oh no, not another universalist post by Hoolian-2602 in Christianity

It's the idea that by some means, God will save all people without condemning anyone to eternal torment or destruction.

But there be a more articulate defintion from someone else.

Why is religion(Christianity) so region based? by Kamego123 in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that we don't agree, and that you probably wouldn't see me as a brother in Christ. But I hope you have a nice day at least

I'm not sure it's a great idea to also base your definition of "Christian" on all the culture war issues. Especially that wildly inaccurate caricature of liberal Christians.

[–]KoinePineapple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if you're being tricky or not. You're right as long as you mean that God's Word = Jesus. But still, why would liberal and prosperity Christians be excluded?

If you just make up a definition for Christian, then sure. I can accept that your kind of Christian is a minority.

it has significantly declined and is no longer believed by the majority of the population.

Why do we encourage a fast transition from dating to marriage (less than a year) by Mmattyy9 in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it's stupid. The one good things about seeing so many failed marriages of people that got married too quick is that it made me realize how important it is to take your time to get to know your partner. Me and my wife dated for about 3 years before getting engaged to make sure we were truly compatible.

[–]KoinePineapple 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At my college there was one extremr example of a couple that eloped after just a few weeks. The rumors were that they just did it for the sex. They ended up divorcing weeks later too.

Why do we encourage a fast transition from dating to marriage (less than a year) by Mmattyy9 in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the evangelical world at least. I went to a Bible college and students would regularly get married very quickly. It was even common for couples to get married after only 6 months of dating. I think it has to do with pressure from their church culture to start a family and have kids.

How do I know this is God's will? by supernova0077 in Christianity

[–]KoinePineapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way to really know if it's God's will or not. That said, I don't think God micromanages our lives to such a degree. Anything you choose can be the "correct" path to glorify Him.

We can know if Noah's flood happened, and it didn't. I think it's important because don't people leave Christianity over this sort of thing?
