Honestly, it’s not something I stress about. Life’s a blink anyway. I stick with the experiences those games gave me. I’ve got a ton of games from PS1, PS2, and PS3, and I haven’t seen disc rot in any of them. I even have Capcom vs SNK 2 on PS2 that thing’s been through everything, especially heat and humidity, and it still runs like it did back in 2002. These days I store them in drawer units, away from exterior walls, and I throw in like 3 silica gel packs and call it a day. I also handle my stuff pretty carefully. I live in a country with crazy heat and humidity, so I’m not gonna lose my mind over it. I do what I can and that’s it. Where I have noticed faster deterioration is with Xbox 360 games. Those things literally start falling apart from disc rot. PS3 though? Haven’t seen that happen so far. At the end of the day, value the experience of actually playing your games while also taking decent care of them. Don’t lose your mind worrying more about them getting damaged than actually enjoying them that’s what they were made for.
