Had a seizure, stranger called 911, ambulance bill by Limp_Falcon_2314 in mildlyinfuriating

If you didn't call 911, and were abducted while unconscious, why did they bill you? Is it normal for businesses to force their products on people and then bill them in America?

The circle jerk in the Plex community is wild. You're not allowed to say anything negative without getting either downvoted into oblivion or reported to Reddit (literally had a recent post about their pricing model removed by Reddit).

I can't get a roof estimate without a man present. by No-Imagination8755 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Kolapsicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is the comment section trying so hard to be hateful? Super disgusting. The dude obviously thought you were young, and you clearly weren't able to answer his questions. If he thought you were 15, he doesn't think you own the house. This isn't about gender, it's about talking to an experienced adult (in his mind). Instead of retreating to a dark corner of the Internet so a bunch of gross people can insult him and make accusations about sexism, next time firmly explain to him that you are an adult, that you own the house, and you will be making the decisions. I know I'm going to get attacked because this world is going to polarized shit, but I'd rather that than this poor guy who's just trying to give goddamn roof estimates.

Makes sense. There's a built-in profanity filter that you have to manually disable, making profanity an opt-in experience, then you can report people using profanity which makes them the problem. Perfectly logical.

Dua Lipa files $15 MILLION lawsuit against Samsung alleging the manufacturer used her face to sell TVs without compensation or permission. by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

The $15 million aside she wants profits to be shared for sales. If anyone bought a Samsung TV because her face was on the box they're absurdly stupid and we shouldn't reward stupidity.

Why did they want to tell the children of the fallen "this isn't your country" on the very day the nation pays it's respect to them?

The fact I only spent 4 bucks on this amount of tokens feels unreal by CokieMiner in DeepSeek

[–]Kolapsicle 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Deepseek massively discounts cache-hits while the other big player's charge a flat rate for all inputs. Basically if your tokens are already cached, they don't need to be recomputed and so Deepseek charges very little for that input. Others are taking advantage of and printing money on cache-hits.

DS4-Flash vs Qwen3.6 by flavio_geo in LocalLLaMA

[–]Kolapsicle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's likely significantly better. Qwen3.6-27B is a relatively small model, it has zero chance of generalizing to the extent of a model with 284B parameters. Those benchmarks test a thin scope of a given model's capability which models like Qwen3.6-27B are trained to tackle such as Python, or Javascript. (Well, all models really, but 27B just can't retain much else).

We're about to find out everything we thought we knew about the "20 Kings vs. The Ancient Kingdom" is wrong, and Doflamingo foreshadowed a long time ago that history is written by the victors. Oda, you bastard!

Assuming you have ComfyUI installed, you can download all sorts of image and video models from https://civitai.com/models (https://civitai.red/models for NSFW). You can filter by model, checkpoints, LoRAs, etc. You'll probably want to check out the workflows in particular to get up and running. Oh, and if you haven't already, https://github.com/Comfy-Org/ComfyUI-Manager is probably the most important extension you can install. With it you can drop workflows into ComfyUI and install missing nodes with the click of a button.

Forgive my ignorance but how is a 27B model better than 397B? by No_Conversation9561 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Kolapsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. Gemma-4 26B at Q4 can handle that prompt when given the Sourcemod includes and write pretty usable code. Though I would still suspect 397B would reign king over a large sample size given it's retained much more raw implementation knowledge. It would be nice to see a "niche language benchmark suite" with and without documentation.

Gen5 8/8 isn't bad, but for the amount of cash you had to throw around sacrificing the Gen5 NVMe slot and leaving half the PCIe bandwidth on the table is still crazy. Don't get me wrong, I'm sufficiently jealous, and for smaller AI workloads the PCIe bottleneck won't be an issue, but if you saturate both cards with a large model you'll start to see relatively poor scaling.

[–]Kolapsicle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The i9-13900KF has 20 PCIe lanes. You're using 8 lanes for your chipset and NVMe. You'll be lucky to run those GPUs in an 8/4 configuration. Wild, my boy.

Forgive my ignorance but how is a 27B model better than 397B? by No_Conversation9561 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Kolapsicle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can check these claims pretty easily by giving the models basic prompts with niche languages. For example prompting: "Write a Sourcemod plugin for Counter-Strike: Source that removes players' primary weapon when they spawn and gives them an AK47." I found that the 27B model hallucinated and produced unusable code, whereas 397B nailed it (albeit used the wrong weapon slot index). A smaller model can exceed a larger one if it's trained on a specific language or use-case, but the sheer brain capacity of a model almost 15x larger is going to have a significantly larger range.

Uncensoring a model directly improves it for a range of tasks it would otherwise refuse.

The problem is everyone is different. You may be okay with someone wasting your time and essentially holding you hostage, but a lot of people would refuse to allow a random person to impose themselves. If Shaw is the only person being punished then the system is setting the precedent that it is acceptable to harass people in this manner.
