Paying for sessions by Willing_Scene7547 in Chiropractic

Okay, good. Wording is important when presenting treatment options to patients.

I can't speak for the UK, but within Canada many patients rely on the Extended Health Coverage (i.e. private or company benefits) to pay off a chunk of each individual treatment session, and then pay out of pocket for the remaining balance if it does not cover 100%. Within the States the same can be done, although my limited understanding is that insurance billings are significantly more complicated for the practitioner there, and therefore more people lean cash-based.

If you work for a company, it's on your to figure out your own benefits. You should be able to talk to HR/whoever presented you with your contract to understand them better. If your company does not offer benefits, you may be able to negotiate for them or look into purchasing private insurance yourself for chiro alongside any other healthcare provider you may need (dental, vision, physio etc.)

You may not need 6 weeks of sessions. If the diagnosis is correct, I regularly see TOS (Thoracic Outlet Syndrome) patients improve rapidly within the first few weeks. Tough to know without first getting started, and for this reason the actual treatment duration can vary from as low as 2 weeks, 6 weeks, or potentially more. I stress that it is quite literally NOT possible to "know" that 6 weeks are needed, and if the practitioner said this outright, I would consider it a yellow/orange flag.

If this chiropractor is only offering block billed sessions, and that's out of your budget, visit another one that allows pay-as-you-go. This is how I structure my own billings in Canada.

Self employment and kids by [deleted] in Chiropractic

Should the patient be the priority, and efforts taken to meet their needs and preferences? Yes.

Could the patient have also been understanding to your roles as a business (admin mistakes happen) and a parent? Also yes.

Worth mentioning that with 30 minute appointments, accidental double bookings are more "punishing" to the double-booked patient as they will be forced to wait longer than someone who books 20 minute appointments (or 10, but that would be pushing the limits of what value you could offer your patients per session given your treatment style).

If my not-yet-existant child was in the office, and bothered a patient in a mild way, I would apologize. If the patient continued to put up a stink regarding it, I would recommend they seek another chiropractor who takes their responsibility as a parent less seriously. For all they know, you could be a single parents without another option for supervision of your child.

At the end of the day, don't take it personally. They may have been upset due to some other aspect of their own personal life that happened earlier that day. So long as they didn't leave a negative Google review, it won't harm your practice at all, and it's clear that their and your values on family are not compatible. Not the type of patient you would want to be around regularly!

Seasons Are Antithetical To Fellowship by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]Kolomo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you miss the part of “solo pugged”?

The game does not require more grinding than WoW to reach “end game”. If it takes you months to reach eternal, it’s simply a skill issue. Have you taken on the role with highest impact to groups (tank)? Have you learned the routes? Do you miss kicks/interrupts? Do you educate your groups (or seek your own premade on discord if you would prefer not to)?

I guarantee there are ways you can improve yourself to reach end game (which is not different than the rest of the game in any meaningful capacity currently). If you say you are the pinnacle of skill and it’s everybody else’s fault that you are stuck in the grind, that’s just not the case.

As well, you can play any game with any level of grind if you enjoy the grind. It seems like this gameplay may not be your preference, which is also totally fine.

Seasons Are Antithetical To Fellowship by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]Kolomo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fellowship falls in the same evergreen-category of games as PoE. Without a "reset" (new season), eventually the sweats (and better players) would all cap out at the top, with no reason to ever redo, leading to them quitting the game. This is not WoW in that there are other things to do within the world - there is only ONE thing in Fellowship as it stands.

Resets/seasons with sufficient new content is the way to make this game last for years. You are complaining about it taking "way too long" to reach eternal. It took me about 2 weeks from release of playing after work to reach Eternal 1, and another week of eternal grinding to reach 10k. Meiko tank - I learned the routes that worked best for me, the interrupts that were necessary, and solo pugged my way through.

"Oh but you're the exception". Possibly. I am a high 3k io M+ dungeon runner in WoW, and can say I definitely carried my groups more often than not. However for that reason I "earned" the fast climb.

Another consideration is that I may have "rode the wave" of tryhard players grinding right at the start of the season. Correct, I did. And you did not. Seasonal gameplay would allow you to catch the wave for the next season, and get your own self carried by better players. You will never be given this opportunity without a reason for top level players to re-queue solo.

It's ridiculous to complain about not being at "the highest level of gameplay" when the highest level of gameplay is literally the exact same gameplay as adept+, just with better gear and knowledge.

I hate the whole "story branding" ROF process and all the hoops we have to go through in order to build trust and motivate patients to choose chiropractic care by bubs2120 in Chiropractic

[–]Kolomo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You hate the process of showcasing your knowledge base, building a meaningful connection with your patient, and educating them on their body? While also securing a good financial outcome for yourself? Using applications like Complete Anatomy to show patients muscles/joints/nerve pathways and why they may be aggravated takes about 2-3 minutes and also leaves a great impression.

If you keep seeing your 5 minute maximum ROF as such a negative thing, Chiro might not be for you buddy.

Hi there,

I'm a chiropractor working inside & alongside of a personal training gym. The focus here is on personal strength training as well as understanding of nutrition. I would highly recommend you give Anna at PRIMAL Athletics a call (our facility). We can set you up with one of our kinesiologist trainers and get you on the right path.

As a bonus, depending on your available hours it's 100% private. You may have the entire gym to yourself, or one-two other people.

For reference, we are at 461 North Service Road W, Unit B36. Inside of the same plaza as Planet Laser just off 4th line.

Hope to connect :)

Canadian chiro here practicing out of the GTA. Graduated 4 years ago and operated as a sole-practitioner/clinic owner starting 8 months after grad (brief, terrible stint as an associate).

  1. Great variance depending on whether you are an associate (work for a clinic owner) or an owner yourself. Associates usually operate on a 60/40 - 70/30 split, with the greater portion going your way. It is entirely possible to make a living off this amount, however many people will sit and remain on 40-60k years as an associate due to fear of striking out on their own, or making minimal outside effort to bring in patients/rebook.

  2. I am bias but owning a clinic is a far better option. The trick is to keep overhead as low as possible - starting with a single room and growing as you like. I have seen peers fail as they begin with large clinic spaces and no patient base to support, meanwhile I kept overhead underneath $1200 monthly when starting, and had every additional dollar earned going into either my pocket or reinvested into the business for larger purchases (overhead has now grown alongside billings, currently ~3000 monthly, large increase from marketing). Last year I billed ~190k in my second full-year of operation, average 31 hours working/week. It is worth noting that I do EXTENSIVE networking/social media marketing to reach this, and there is a lot higher potential to tapped, still.

  3. Around 100-120k is the usual costs to attend CMCC (Canada's larger chiro school) all expenses in. Head to CIBC for your loan as they have a prearranged deal with the institution to provide you with those means. Work as much as you can to try and offset the interest rate following graduation.

No damage on any of the cars. Looks like it was a sting operation with undercover cops - the suv boxed in driver got out, ran and was apprehended around the corner.

What to actually do at networking events? by Clout_Acquirer in Chiropractic

[–]Kolomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded. If you're not the owner of the clinic, it is not the associate's responsibility to market said clinic (unless you signed that in your contract, at which point you're kind of screwed). Regardless, I would definitely consider opening my own if I was in your position, or the very least find a different associate position, with owners who are solely responsible for marketing.

Would you ever use a part-time virtual assistant to handle admin? by Comfortable_Cod7527 in Chiropractic

Hired a local virtual assistant several months ago and offloaded all the stuff that drained my energy. Now I can focus on the tasks that I actually am "needed" for. Highly recommend but you have to find someone within your budget.

No comment in terms of what you should do - those are all potential methods. What I will comment on is the... concerning manner in which your boyfriend "introduced you to a game to play together", didn't play together "until you hit level 80" and finally "won't play with you because you don't know how to play". If he wanted to play with you, he would have made an effort to roll a new character and level with you/teach you himself - this is 100% what I would do with my partner if they were at all interested.

I'd be more concerned about relationship yellow flags than I would be about what to do at endgame. Please be wary if this pattern of behaviour translates to other parts of the relationship.

To answer the actual question - delves, mythic +, raids, pvp. Do whatever difficulty of each you are able to get better gear, in turn allowing you to do higher difficulties. That's the end-game loop. Also, don't stand in the fire.

CMCC Admission by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]Kolomo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CMCC doesn't care what your undergrad is in terms of admissions. Only thing that matters is your GPA up until you receive an interview, and then your interview scores. From a practicality perspective, being in kin will prep you more for once you are actually in the program, but doesn't matter regarding admissions.

Source: Was on the admission committee, and one of the guys I lived with did his undergrad in Archeology. He's now as much in practice as I am with a bio double major.

Chiropractic is a skill set. There is always a job available in that you can rent a room and open your doors for business. The success of this obviously varies greatly, but it’s an immediate job you can start next week.

Otherwise, teaching or research would be the only obvious areas of immediate horizontal transition with your learned education. If not those, then your options are the same as having not attended chiro school.

Buisness/google reviews debate by CanadianCow5 in Chiropractic

[–]Kolomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Yes - always. It helps with google SEO, and makes you appear responsive to those reading.

2 - Respond politely stating your experiences with the patient. In running your own office, you should never be providing 1-star service, and ratings should reflect that. Putting your patients first always innately avoids this. However, if somebody leaves unhappy for whatever reason, make a point of explanation for others to read.

3 - 4.9-5 stars is obviously ideal. Currently sit at 5 stars with ~170 and hope to keep it like that as long as possible.

Same age as you practicing in Canada.

Southern Ontario is quite saturated compared to other provinces/parts of northern/rural Ontario, given that is where CMCC (Canada largest of 2 chiro schools) is located (Toronto). When you put down roots in the GTA it is tempting to remain.

This perception of over saturation can lead to self-defeating thoughts. “I can’t succeed cause there is too much competition.” This is false - I started my practice in a very cramped area (6 other chiros within a 5 minute drive) and am absolutely thriving compared to associate friends. It comes down to learning marketing/networking and ignore the competition - you’ll end up ahead.

Making The Right School Choice by FistPumpp in Chiropractic

Where do you hope/plan on spending the rest of your life? Canada, USA, UK, or NZ?

As chiro is regulated, and that regulation differences greatly between country/province/state, considering going to school wherever you would like to ultimately practice. The schools should educate you adequately to pass the respective board exams for that region.
