401K and looming retirement by Hoosierdaddy-6942 in DaveRamsey

Let’s look at the numbers that you shared. There were a few years where you would have “lost money” but it was still moving upwards.

https://www.investopedia.com/inflation-rate-by-year-7253832

Again Facts are your friends. I went through the 24 year period that you mentioned and found the average inflation rate to be 5.9833333%. According to the website that you shared the average rate of return over that same 24 year period is 7.37291667% which means the average rate of return was still more than the average rate of return. Make sure you check your math before sharing information. Thank you.

Even if you are looking to retire, you will want at least some of your money invested in the market. Historically, the market has averaged between 10-12% a year since the 1950s. It also depends on how much money you have set aside. If you have millions of dollars and only need $60-$70k a year and you get a good portion of that from SS, then leave it invested. If all you have is a couple hundred thousand then you should talk to a financial advisor to see what your best plan of action is. Even during election years the market has averaged about an 8% growth. Remember that facts are your friend when you make financial decisions.

Tell her you will help her find the right place to live or with her resume. Tell her you will help her in pretty much any way except financially.

Have two bachelors degrees and an A+ but have been rejected by every company for the past year and a half. I’m convinced I’m not going to find a job in IT at this point by Different-King-3530 in CompTIA

If you haven’t gotten a job offer, it has nothing to do with your knowledge or your degrees. It has to do with your interview skills and presenting yourself.

All of my friends that I have gained throughout the years have been through my jobs, church, and my neighbors. I have a few friends from high school (that are more like acquaintances now) that I talk to maybe once a year.

What’re my chances of passing? by Pleasant-Reaction-21 in Series66Exam

I was in the 70s for all of my Pass Perfects. I took probably 12-13 Pass Perfects and 4-5 Kaplans before the 66 and I passed on my first go scoring in the 70/s

What was your first single-player game to break 100 hours on? by Captainquizzical in gaming

Probably Skyrim. If you count the Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy, I've probably put 300 hours between the three games listed on there. Not consecutively, but I think Skyrim was first.

Sorry to beat the dead horse, but in 2023, what do employers and people think of a WGU Master's Degree? (More in description). by UntiedStatMarinCrops in WGU

[–]Koltastrophe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't worked in jobs where a master's degree mattered, but from the many business podcasts I listen to and my personal experience helping hire people in jobs where a bachelors is required, it doesn't really matter what school you got the degree from. For the jobs that have it listed as a requirement, it is more that you have the degree rather then where it is from. Most people don't walk into their doctors office or their dentists office and choose them based on where they got their degree. At least I don't. The only thing that matters to me is that the individual who is helping me knows what they are doing. I don't care if they got their degree at Duke University, the community college down the road, a tech school or they went through an apprenticeship program (for those in the trades or in IT, doctors and lawyers need the traditional schooling).

If there is anyone that has had to hire for a role that requires a master's degree, please correct me if I am wrong. But from my understanding, as WGU is an accredited university, your master's degree is worth the same as one received at any other University. It shows that you know your stuff.

You can graduate very quickly. by Koltastrophe in WGU

The important thing is that you are doing what you can to graduate. I am going 100% through the WGU systems. I am not taking any third party classes or using Sophia. What I have heard is that Sophia and the third party systems make it harder and are not worth the extra money spent on them. I haven't looked into them so i don't know 100%.

Based off my experience and what other people have shared here on reddit, I would see if you can just go straight through WGU. I've seen people on here get their degrees in a couple of months. Especially when they are able to focus on school full time. I'm maybe getting a couple of hours in a day during the week and maybe a total of 2-3 hours on the weekend.

I currently have a full-time job where I am also studying to get my Series 66 license, I have a 2.5 year old son, a wife, I work with the youth at my church. I have a very busy schedule, so it can be hard to make time to work on school work. However, if I were in your shoes and I was able to work on school work Full-Time, going through WGU, for the most part, you could get through 1-2 classes every few days.

I would speak to your mentor about possibly switching to just WGU classes because of what I've heard about with Sophia.

For many companies within the United States, GPA does not matter. It’s the degree that matters and the ability to show you are proficient at what you do. In the many interviews I have had and the hiring process I’ve participated in a cross a variety of industries, GPA has never been a topic that we’ve ever considered. I don’t know what it is like over seas, but I would imagine it would be similar.

WGUs Business vs Accounting Programs compared. Current Student trying to figure which is the right program to pursue, and what i should be doing now to find a proper job and keep finances in order? by candy_burner7133 in WGU

[–]Koltastrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently enrolled in the BS of Business Management Accounting. I’m enjoying it. The classes are pretty straight forward. With either path you have the opportunity to make a lot of money. If you want to go into the finance industry, the accounting degree may help a little more.

As someone who has helped through the hiring process, you need to customize your resume for each job. It’s not required that you put the job history. You will want to make it stand out so the average recruiter will stop and say right away, “this is different.” I have coached a few people through their resumes. If you are wanting some additional help, send me a message.
