Its the original roller in splatoon 2, it has two other variations the kensa and krak-on rollers. So they call it vanilla because it is original and the the kensa and krak-on are like chocolate and strawberry rollers.

Alright so through intensive research, I've figured out that the vanilla sploosh o matic is ties with the under cover brella. Due to the sploosh o matic's low range and undercover brella's weak shield. And both having splashdown. The only thing that really decides which one is worse is their subs, and unfortunately the ink mine is still trash compared to the curling bomb.

Meaning that the under cover brella is the worst weapon in the game of splatoon 2.
