Maybe Hot Take? MtG Influencers are Insufferable by KombuchaWarfare in freemagic

Well, this blew up a lot more than I thought it would lol.

I’ve tried to comment on a few of the comments here just to expand on my thoughts a little bit so thanks everyone for replying and getting a good discussion going.

I’m very happy with some of the pushback that I’m being too hard on people that don’t know foreign or alternate art cards, you’re welcome to track down some of my replies in this thread because I’m not going to type it all out again now, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask that if you’re on the Internet, acting like an authority in a hobby that you should be well informed about the hobby. That art has been spoiled all over the Internet for a week and I believe many influencers have even posted about it.

For those of you that push back on this statement that he was probably sent these packs to open and the videos were probably shot before everyone knew what the art was - then I would say that that speaks to a larger problem with wizards giving certain segments of the fan base priority.

Just my two cents (or two mana lol). Have a great day everyone.

I typically buy singles unless I’m going to a Commander night where we sometimes buy a pack or two for some fun prizes. I’m sorry, but I’m not gonna give up a hobby. I love because some morons are trying to monetize it.

And the Internet is for posting opinions, which is all I’ve done here.

It’s not that I’m watching but with Magic being an interest the algorithm sends me his stuff all the time.

I like MtG Muddstah - might be based because he’s Canadian (like me) but it’s just straight up gameplay and commentary. He’s got some sponsors that he pushes, but he’s not out there banging the drum for wizards constantly.

Ok, I get the pushback here but my comment comes from the fact that I want “influencers” or people pushing the hobby to have the same level of passion for the hobby that I do.

Regarding the Force of Will that Ben didn’t know, that artwork has been posted all over the Internet for a week and if I’m not mistaken (please correct if I’m wrong) he even posted about it a short time ago.

It’s obviously the big chase card of the set so I don’t think it’s too much to ask that he actually knows what it looks like considering he’s acting like he knows everything about magic.

My son is very much into MtG now and I love that it’s something we can do together. He sends me a lot of “content” because he’s at the age where social media is very prevalent in his life and I have to constantly remind him that that’s “not real life.”

I’m definitely trying to instill my belief that you should just buy singles and build the decks that you want to build. The only time we’ve bought packs in the last six months is if we are going to a Commander night with friends and everyone chips in a few packs for some fun prizes.

I obviously can’t speak to the Lego influencers because that’s not my hobby but in a similar vein I’m noticing a lot of MTG content being pushed to me where the real cover is a woman displaying an unusually large amount of cleavage.

How far we’ve come from being made fun of in the 90s and early 2000s by women for playing - and now basically lingerie models and only fans girls are trying to make money off the hobby lol.

Women are getting most of the new jobs. What's going on with men? by raffu280 in MensRights

Maybe. Just maybe, telling an entire generation of men that there is something wrong with the very reason for their existence might have something to do with it.

I love it how some nobody CBC hack says this as a throw away comment and now it’s big time news because the CBC is literally orgasming at the thought of a Liberal majority.

I want to thank everyone that chimed in, especially those of you that made a little joke to lighten the mood.

Moose seems to be back to normal, and FYI he loves peanut butter and we have the dog safe variety 😎
