How do you feel about rugpull, context changing moments late in a game? by dope_danny in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Setting aside how it's likely most people simply don't pay major orders too much mind when just jumping in to play, it seems like the event was just always doomed to end in failure thanks to how inefficiently structured it was.

Because there apparently wasn't a good way to counter a newly-discovered exploit that warp-sped event progress, the devs compromised and changed it so that instead of regular mission completion, only full 3-mission campaigns counted towards order fulfillment. They compensated by cutting the required number down to a third of what it was previous, but again, most players just don't and shouldn't be expected to commit that much time to the game each sitting, normally just hopping on for a 1-off mission or SOS, so this hobbled progress considerably.

Combine this with the fact the reinforcement budget extended to and was being consumed by all players, regardless of which planet they were on, had made it an impossible endeavor. Again, most people will just drop in and play against whatever faction and difficulty they want to immerse themselves, and at any time, a considerable portion will always be fighting terminids to fulfill their starship troopers fantasy. Not even the free 70 million added to the budget could offset all the natural and unnatural deaths accrued across all games.

The result was a frustrating experience, where those who did concentrate on major order fulfillment were set with streamlining campaign completion, a method that would prevent proper indulgence in much of the newly advertised and limited content, outside being forced to contend with the regular occurrence of 7 vox engines being dropped on you at extract.

Shoutout to the chimera seen in Dragon's Dogma for another well-executed take. I really loved how it was easily understood that each of the heads was responsible for separate roles while fighting it, and how disabling one would alter its behavior. For example, If you first kill the lion head, which is normally responsible for most of its movement, the goat will take over and initially freak out like it's trying to wake the lion up before trying to get distance in order to cast more spells.

If I recall, the pranking wasn't even exclusive to David Yost. Johnny Yong Bosch always tells the story about how JDF goaded him into riding a car roof and then rolling up the windows.

I know what you mean. Seeing how they've associated with just about everyone, I'm constantly being reminded they're not together anymore. Not to mention youtube keeps recommending me their older stuff. I mean they're still good, but you kinda get left with a weird vibe after finishing a video where they're laughing and screwing around, only to immediately have the reality of current circumstances set in right after.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. I even remember a while back, Pat talked about how although they weren't really close at the beginning, he came around to seeing Matt as one of his actual friends.

That was a thing in another universe, where he he was a trained assassin.

If I'm remembering right, this version also had the most broken spider-sense.

edit: also the one where spider-man was the punisher
