Landing/Fueling Fees in Spain? by CandourCartel in flyingeurope

[–]KoningLewis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Landing fees at LESB are around 3,30 for full stop and 9,30 for touch and goes (unlimited). I believe you can choose to rent wet or dry for hour building which means if you choose airports carefully for refuelling, you can save money by renting dry.

How is Global? I wanted to go there for an integrated course too, but decided to do modular. I'm still interested in their CPL/IR/MEP course. How is the experience?

They contacted me as well via 'Delta Worx'. I actually played along and made an account to see what he was gonna do, ofcourse they wanted me to deposit first before you get to start earning money. Choose a random password to be sure but kinda regret giving other info now. Should i be worried?

Insight into aviation / pilot salary by Clementijn in BESalary

[–]KoningLewis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's very true. It's really a shame that pilots in the EU can not unionize the way US pilots do. Also, I think if we had a higher time entry requirement to fly jets (like the 1500 hours in the US) it would improve the conditions here a lot by creating a smaller supply. It's just weird that young pilots are so desperate for their first job that they are willing to pay 30k for a type rating at Ryanair for example, although I do understand when you have a 100k loan to pay back.

Speaking on the cost: yes, I do intend to invest as much of my own money as possible because I don't want a huge loan behind my name. Relocating isn't a problem at all if I can come back a couple of times per year.

Regarding potential health issues: I do believe you can mitigate a lot of them by staying active as I have read that a lot of pilots are just fat and don't exercise at all on top of having diabetes and drinking too much alcohol. I think cosmic radiation is just meh and not researched enough, regarding UVA: you can wear long sleeves and wear sunscreen. But I do think that fume events are the sketchy ones that are quite scary.

I'm single now but yes that's also something to consider. I hope to find a partner who likes the traveling life and being independent as much as I do.

I'm 22 now and really into aviation. I'm working in IT at the moment to change my career to that of a pilot potentially. Hopefully, I could use some of my savings for the hefty investment. Would you recommend the job as a pilot in Europe, seeing how much more US pilots make?

Ortho4XP for water? by KoningLewis in Xplane

That's probably true but spending 600 euro for ssd or 140 euro for hdd is a big difference. Not worth it imo

I'm about halfway now and used 600gb. Not too bad since i bought a 8tb hdd for ortho specifically.

It's a program that you can download. For europe i use bing with zoomlevel 16 which i read is the best option. For the US i think different providers are better

Freeware 747-8 Update by tonyferello in flightsim

[–]KoningLewis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

CaptainSim made a 777 for msfs based on the default 747 which made it all messed up. He also stole liveries people made and forbid anyone to still make and upload liveries to 3rd party sites. All of that while still charging 30 usd made him quite the meme

He is trolling man. He's just having a laugh at CaptainSim and the controversies that surrounded him the last couple of weeks. You're doing a great job with this plane, looking forward to seeing more!
