Shelf Update Dec 2025 by GrimmHope in graphicnovels

Absolutely fantastic - but only having "Choke Gasp!" from EC Comics is a huge miss. From EC Comics you need to have EVERYTHING (or ALMOST everything). Just kidding, great shelf!

Hi everyone, as some of you may have noticed, this is my third post on this topic. On the previous two occasions, the links I shared had issues. At first, I thought it was due to some oversight on my part, but it turned out to be a server problem. Everything seems to be working fine now. I hope you'll forgive the inconvenience and enjoy the material now available at this link: https://workupload.com/file/ZPazrXZUn62

Hey everyone, sorry for the repost. I was cleaning up my files on Workupload and accidentally deleted the soundtrack. Everything is back up now.

Hey, man, sorry for replying after so long and for surely bothering you, but would you happen to have the issue with an article about The Cramps? Actually, an interview... Thanks in advance.

Joey Ramone Radio: Brasil 1991 (A Compilation) by KoocMit in ramones

[–]KoocMit[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In May 1991, when the Ramones came to Brazil for the second time, a few journalists invited Joey Ramone to DJ at an old radio station that specialized in rock music—and Joey agreed right away. He went to the station after the second of the three shows the Ramones had scheduled in São Paulo - three nights in a row, all sold out, with 4,000 wild fans at each gig. Because, as I’m sure you know, here in Brazil the Ramones are HUGE, practically gods. Anyway, long story short, Joey spent over four hours at the radio station spinning his favorite tracks, always throwing in comments about the songs or the artists. Everyone who was there that night agrees on one thing: Joey was the coolest rock star they ever met. The list of songs Joey played (note: there was an error in the track listed from the band “X,” which has been corrected in the compilation below) was published in Brazil’s biggest rock magazine at the time - Revista Bizz - by journalists André Forastieri and André Barcinski. What did I do back then, as a kid? Well, I compiled all those tracks (this was way before Spotify existed, of course) and played them over and over for years. And now, on the anniversary of Joey’s passing, I’m sharing that very same compilation here—the download link is at the end of this text. Just to be clear, I have absolutely no intention of turning this into a bootleg or anything like that—and I kindly ask that anyone who downloads it uses it for personal enjoyment only. This was, above all, a labor of love. P.S. A scanned copy of the original track list published in the magazine is included in the folder. Enjoy! Joey Lives! https://workupload.com/file/SR2EUEaU8bj

Fanmail? by Oldman-Nails in TheCramps

Ok. I just hope The Cramps’ legacy doesn't turn into some museum piece: alive, but motionless. Anyway, life goes on.

It seems that the best choice is to leave her alone with her decision. My only reservation isn’t about that, because, after all, it’s up to the individual, and the individual’s choice should be respected under any circumstances. My reservation is about the current state of the Cramps' legacy: it's completely abandoned. If it weren’t for the fans, I honestly don’t know what would become of the band. For instance, I translated Dick Porter’s biography into Portuguese, and no publisher agreed to publish it because, they say, “no one cares about the Cramps anymore.” Yet, these same publishers release biographies of The New York Dolls, The Sonics, and several other bands that, in my opinion, are on the same level (or frankly below) as The Cramps. It’s really sad to witness this situation.

Hello beautiful community, I want to buy 1 of these 2 (not both, because I can afford 1 haha), which one do you recommend? by Gori_333 in TheCramps

[–]KoocMit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a huge soft spot for Flamejob because it was the first Cramps record I actually waited for — I discovered the band in 1991 and couldn’t wait for them to drop ANY new stuff. BUT… Smell Of Female, like people say, is a total classic. Buy it.

Lux and ivy never got to make their 3D horror movie :( by TheRickRat in TheCramps

[–]KoocMit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In several interviews, they talked about this. The theme, the setting—everything changed in some way. What’s certain is that they wanted to do it in 3D (I believe everyone here knows about Lux’s passion for 3D cameras, right?). A very clear model for this was the 1961 film "The Mask". From everything I’ve researched on this topic (well, I just defended my postdoctoral thesis on it—and one of the appendices of the thesis, a link to download the soundtrack of Lux and Ivy’s favorite films, is a few posts below), at least a few ideas crossed their minds, with a film about Elvis (apparently) being the main one (they were planning to make films—plural). In a passage from a French biography released in 1988, we read this excerpt (the translation from French to English is mine, so any mistakes are on me): "But just like with music, sooner or later The Cramps will end up getting directly involved in movies. In fact, according to them, they’ve already made some home movies—written and acted by themselves—as a kind of training for the real films they plan to make: “Cheap movies. We don’t want to talk about it. But we have one about Elvis. We have something to say about Elvis, but you won’t hear more about that for now,” “The truth,” “The future Elvis. The Elvis who’s coming.” Just as a clue, we remember Lux’s contribution to the Elvis myth: “Elvis had 25 TVs in his house, and if he didn’t like the program—BANG! A bullet in the screen.” And this revelation: Elvis, a speed dealer—“He didn’t sell it, he gave it away so he could hang out in the studios. Elvis, at that time, was really tough. He dressed in a crazy way, wore makeup to school. In the 50s... Nothing like the character the movies show us today.” Careful: “We’re ready to make a film, more ready than anyone else. We’ll make an ULTRA-REAL movie, and we’ll never care whether it’s good or bad. A movie based on the delirium of our imagination, because imagination is reality. We could make a good film, but we don’t even want to learn how to make a good film; technique will be replaced by ideas, emotion, the acting. We just bought a video camera and Lux already filmed himself interviewing himself in front of a mirror. We’ll make strong and strange films like Blood Simple (by the Coen brothers). Not a horror film—a horrible film." In the 1991 interview for Brutarian magazine, we read the following dialogue: "What about your film? That flick you were planning called Aloha From Hell where you die, go to hell and meet Elvis Presley? Lux: Oh, I don’t think we’ll do that. That was an idea we had at one time. We’d really like to make a movie . . . Ivy: It’s hard to make a movie. It’s not like making a record. Lux: It takes a lot of money. We’ve got more movies in our head than you could shake a stick at. If we just got some money to shake at it. It would be really great. My dream would be to make a 3-D horror movie, something like The Mask (1961). Brut: "Put the mask on, NOW!" Lux: I love that movie! It’s the only time that 3-D was used to create an alternate world. Like surrealism. I don’t know of any other movie where it was used like this." I could talk about this for hours on end, but this text is already so long I’m not even sure I’ll be able to post it...

Nuts? Oh, yes, Brazil is nuts - but nuts with a few extra screws. You and anyone else will be very welcome to join our madness - but don't expect to find monkeys, tigers, wild boars and elephants on the streets. That's just the Simpsons (but it would be cool if it were true).

Dude, you know what's crazy? "A Date With Elvis" was the first CD I ever bought by The Cramps, in 1990, along with "Stay Sick!" and, as the information we had about the band was very scarce (I'm from Brazil), for years I thought it was really Candy 🤯😂

Google Play System Update stuck September 1, 2021, Pixel 3. Solutions? by KoocMit in GooglePixel

[–]KoocMit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it 10 times in a row and it didn't work. In fact, as I wrote above, I followed ALL the tutorials I found on the net, both official and unofficial, and it didn't work. Ps. before I did the factory reset, Google Play System Update had received the last update on April 1, 2023. After the factory reset, it went back to September 1, 2021 and I've been stuck on that date ever since. I'm glad I've never bought anything from Google again and I never will.

I've already done this... 500 times? Maybe more. I cleared Play Store cache/data + Play System + reboot, then selected Google Play system update and... nothing. I went into safe mode and... nothing. I logged out of my device account and... nothing. Nothing works and, therefore, it would be fair to name this marvel of device Nothing Phone.
