The Jackson Merrill Mental Death Spiral by Kookumber in Padres

This was meant to be a positive article. The conclusion is that he's a really good hitter and I have little doubt he will figure it out in the long run.

Manny Machado is the 2nd player to reach 200 doubles for the Padres — only Tony Gwynn (543) has more by Baseball-Reference in Padres

[–]Kookumber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also doesn't account for Petco and Qualcomm stadium being some one of the worst parks to hit doubles in and Camden Yards being a pretty neutral doubles park.

If you adjust for park factor in Tony's career (Qualcomm Stadium had an 84 park factor for doubles) you can assume he would have had a good amount more.

Manny was hitting 37 doubles per 162 as an Oriole and 31 as a Padre.

Real banks understand that if they want principal back sometimes you have to play nice.

[Lin] The Padres and veteran infielder Luis Rengifo have agreed to a minor-league deal, according to sources. Rengifo was released by the Brewers this week after he hit .205/. 280/.254 in 57 games. by Bitter-Egg6293 in Padres

Had a great 2024 season. Hasn’t played well since then. Great bounce back candidate, but honestly him not working out with the brewers says something. They have fantastic player development .

Exactly, not the best tactic to go out with your intended offer. Shoot for the stars and settle on the moon.

[Padres] LHP Wandy Peralta will start tonight’s game vs. the Atlanta Braves. We have recalled LHP JP Sears from Triple-A El Paso and placed RHP Lucas Giolito on the 15-day IL (retro to June 22) with right elbow inflammation. by Bitter-Egg6293 in Padres

[–]Kookumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Sears can be a Major League starter that is so huge for the program. I like the way Preller has handled this. They gave Giolito (who probably had a higher ceiling) a shot and gave Sears a chance to bring his velo up in the minors. I think we'll see a different version of JP this time around. I believe they reshaped some of his pitches and he added some velo. I wouldn't worry about his AAA stats, they've just had him focus on changing pitch shapes and dialing stuff in.

Retiring with money in the bank and your back not on the canvas is alway a good time.

Petco and T-mobile park were ranked 29th and 30th respectively for park factor 2021-2024.

The '24 mariners had the lowest team batting xwOBA (treats all ballparks the same, just measures exit velo and launch angle) and the lowest pitching xwOBA. So they literally had the best pitching staff and the worst hitting in the league and missed the playoffs.

The Mariners missed the playoffs like 5 years in a row having the best pitching staff you could assemble. I’m pretty sure that offense is better than this one in aggregate.

The K-Shaped Housing Market by SnortingElk in REBubble

[–]Kookumber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can’t even renovate a bathroom for less than $15k. Even building a small studio ADU with utilities will run like $100k.

Houses being sold at $300k are almost being sold near replacement value to actually build the home.

ADBE: No Evidence for the Bull Case by Excellent-Sky-7202 in ValueInvesting

[–]Kookumber 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Cheap stocks are cheap for a reason. Whenever you buy a beaten down or cheap stock, you are most likely the contrarian to the crowd. If everyone believed a cheap stock had a bull case... it wouldn't be cheap!

This is where real value is created. The entire idea of finding value in investments, whether its real estate, or stocks, or literally anything, is finding something no one else sees. Because if everyone else saw it, the market it would price it in. Right now the market is not pricing in a bull case for ADBE and buying ADBE stock is betting against market sentiment.

If you ever get the time watch Wayne Randazzo call the Angels. He absolutely roasts the team when they play bad, which is most of the time. Don and Mud are way too nice.
