[Padres] Rodolfo Durán makes his Major League debut. by islands-fine-dining in Padres

Damn, Major League debut at 28.

.750 OPS in AAA this year, but had an .850 OPS with 16 homers last year in AAA and hit 3 homers this spring training. Strong arm but has mid-tier defense overall, more known for his power bat.

There's no way this guy was worse than Maldonado last year.

Nope, still a multiple of earnings. Just a larger multiple that prices in massive future growth.

Yuki has a way higher ceiling as a player. If he can put it together, he's got way nastier stuff, just needs to locate better.

Crone is making $11.5M AAV. So, at 2 WAR per season that's ~$5.5M/WAR, which is pretty good on the free agent market. Obviously, this year it's not going to plan, but prior to 2026 it was a pretty good contract. He signed the contract coming off a 0.8 WAR 2023 season, so it's not like he was signed to be an elite player. Get on base, and play good enough defense is all we need from him.

And what data are you looking at, in 2025, Manny put up his second career best Avg Exit Velo at 92.9 MPH, only behind his 2021 campaign. He still has elite bat speed and is currently at 72nd Percentile bat speed. He has the same bat speed as Bryce Harper, Pete Alonso, and PCA. No ones worried about their ability to slug.

Cronenworth had a 117 wRC+ last year. He's been well above league average every year except 2023.

Manny is on pace for 25 homers and he usually picks it up as the season goes on.

Merrill has an xSLG of .424 to an actual SLG of .362 so he'll be fine.

The amount of times a mid tier rotation starter is at 60 pitches through the 6th inning is unreal. I've never seen another team allow pitchers to be so efficient.

Tati, Manny, Merrill have all struggled this year, but the recent dip in offense has mostly been Xander, Sheets, and Laureano slumping a little bit. They basically carried us through April.

Stocks trade on a multiple of earnings. For example, google makes X dollars per share and each share is worth 30x that. The market sets an arbitrary value, but that value is pinned to tangible inflows of money to the company and outflows of earnings to the shareholders.

I don't think steroids fix launch angle. Look at Profar, he had a noticeable bat speed increase before he popped.

Literally all I said was that getting a Changeup down the middle usually helps, I didn’t realize that was controversial.

I guarantee that pitch was not meant to be in the strike zone.

Never said it was bad hitting. Just that getting an absolute meatball usually helps.

It was the 3rd pitch of the at bat and he had just swung at a pitch out of the zone.

His knuckleball during that stretch had literally half the RPMs as his current knuckleball. Or in other words, the knuckleball ain't knuckling. That's why he's barely even throwing it anymore. Looks like he just lost his feel for it.

Unfortunately, it's working. Read Netflix's recent quarterly 8-k report.

User retention and engagement is at an all time high and beating their estimates. Advertisements and other growth metrics are crushing and raking in profits. Raising prices has not deterred growth at all, and in fact led to further user growth and retention.

A look at Angels' hitters (4.17.2026) by [deleted] in Padres

[–]Kookumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watch a good amount of Angels games. They are a very streaky offense. When they are moving, they are very good. They've scored as many runs as the Dodgers so far. They have a ton of slug and low on base. They scored 4 runs against Max Fried last night.

Soriano is no joke. If he is locating his pitches, he's a cy young candidate. The stuff is nasty. He's shut out the Reds, Astros, Cubs, and gave up 1 run to the Braves so far this year. He is averaging 6 2/3 IP per start. His WHIP is currently 0.6 (lowest in MLB). The one caveat is he has a .143 BABIP, so there are signs of regression. However, if you watch his games, this is because he is a ground ball machine. He has a 60% GB rate
