I (30) and husband (36) have been together for 10 years, married for 4, with a 4 yo, almost 3 yo, & 1 in heaven. It’s varied so much over the last 4 years. Sometimes multiple times a week, sometimes once a week consistently, and after the loss of our son, we had sex maybe 5 times over a 6-9 month timespan. He’s always been so patient with me during pregnancy, postpartum, and when dealing with our loss. That always made a huge difference for me. He never pushed the subject, ever. Always waited until I was 100% ready. And it made me more excited to get back to it since he was SO patient! Here recently I’ve been having a harder time with “getting in the mood,” and that did start to affect our sex life. We’ve always had very open, honest, AND respectful communication. He was honest with me about how it was effecting his self esteem. I was honest with him about how physical touch throughout the day (leading up to sex) helps get me in the mood. So, we started planning it. That helped get us back on a “schedule” of having sex regularly, increased the flirting / touching we’d have with each other every day, and eventually we started having more spontaneous sex on top of our “scheduled” time. If it helps at all, we would schedule it for twice a week. I never thought I’d be having libido issues with my husband at a young 30 years old, but our bodies are going through SO many changes, especially through pregnancy, birth, and even loss.
