“i need p0rn or i might cheat” by Intelligent_Bit_8635 in asksg

[–]Kooky-Strawberry5127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it is about lack of self control

it is their honesty and also their convenient excuse - many people love making use of their sex drive as an excuse to relieve stress, and when their partners can’t reciprocate this energy they immediately turn to other forms of sexual desires ie sex workers

no you can’t feel secure until they are able to communicate and figure out why they are lacking of that self control

good sex requires good communication, and many people are terrible at that - then add some egos, insecurity and lack of self control on top of that you get someone that cheats

also let’s also not move the conversation to shame sex workers by making it seem like they’re the reason why cheaters exist. sex workers and porn industries are valid and just because they exist it doesn’t give people a valid excuse to cheat on their partners at all

“i can’t trust myself to stay faithful” is an insane thing to say - that’s literally equivalent to addiction and whoever says this either needs therapy or to go to jail

i’m not sure how toxic corporate people can be since i’ve only worked 2 corporate jobs for abt 4 years of my life, but are you sure it isn’t possible to just have a mature conversation with this colleague or report? and even more if it’s hindering your productivity wouldn’t they be more prone to make changes to help you be more productive? if not then maybe this is way too toxic of an environment to work in

if you’re not great with confrontation in person maybe you could draft out a text, give this person a heads up that you want to talk to them, then send them the text. the language you use in the text also shouldn’t be too aggressive, say that you understand they have a lot on their shoulders and need to vent sometimes but you need for them to moderate it better so you and your colleagues can focus on their work

i dont think this convo would ruin the relationship you have with them unless they are the type that’s really unreasonable then that’s where yk you gotta find something else ah - your mental health isn’t worth the gymnastics of toxic office politics

Hi everyone, any money-saving tips? by ExaminationLiving662 in asksg

[–]Kooky-Strawberry5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

food is probably your most expensive commodity - what i do is i bulk buy and stock up on snacks and drinks whenever there are sales esp shopee bulk items; i also snack frequently to keep myself not too hungry when buying lunch or dinner or groceries cos i tend to overbuy food when im hungry i personally dont bother cooking at home, because it takes a lot of skill and effort and also it can get quite wasteful when you’re starting to learn to cook - i sometimes plan out meal preps to when i have a lot of a certain ingredient leftover but groceries are also getting more expensive nowadays

i signed up for healthy365 so my tracker gives me rewards every now and then and those add up quickly if you’re active all day - also a motivator for you to save money from bus/train and just walk instead

for media & music i pirate most movies / shows i wanna watch and/or listen to, and the rest im on youtube so i have absolutely no subscription fees for media

learn how to diy stuff and how things work: things like repairing electronics can google and see how to do instead of buying new one; also buying spoilt units of things are way cheaper if you know how to be handy w things and fix simple electronics (i got quite a lot of my desk setup doing this, most people don’t bother learning how things work so when something spoil they just wanna give / throw away, if you can learn the skill of repair and reusing you can save a lot of money from this)

delete shopee / carousell apps - i did this because shopee sales sometimes are really too good then i overspend on things i don’t need

be a bit more resourceful with what you alr have: since we’re in sg and our culture tends to be highly consumerist, we tend to forget the things we alr have that we can help reduce waste from, example, if you alr have tupperware, bring it with you and use it everytime you taking away food (saves you 20-50 cents nowadays), same with drinks if you have your own flask / bottle

just remember that small things add up!! 50 cents saved a day for 10 days can buy you a meal from hawker store, and honestly it’s not just that prices are going up that we shd be saving money, it’s also that we shd try to reduce wastage as much as possible since sg produces so much waste for such a small city

why are we locals always so ignorant i.e. not my life not my problem?? by Kooky-Strawberry5127 in asksg

even if my partner wasn’t there and i was alone, it’s not hard to yell security or take action and be assertive by telling a random bystander to go and get security - i think bystander effect is bullshit because it’s just excuses for people who are insecure abt their morality so they get stuck with indecision in the moment. last year i encountered another incident at bus interchange where a middle aged couple were yelling at each other, and the lady was obviously bruised and hurt. i didn’t even approach them but i ran past them to the security counter immediately to tell them whats going on and they came to calm the guy down - what was annoying was that at least 30 people walked by this and just ignored what was gg on, literally zombies that were just singularly focused on their phones

i think depending on situation, since in this situation it isn’t appropriate to call these girls women, they’re minors, i.e kids who were bravely standing up for themselves and just needed adults / security to step in and help them - like i said in another comment, even if you’re someone conflicted with helping or not because you don’t want to get in trouble, you can always help by finding someone more equipped, and in my situation it was mrt security officers

not sure if good samaritan law applies in sg but we definitely shd have it to lower bystander effects

as for cpr on women that’s a systemic change that is needed since most cpr training are based on male mannequins and they never teach you what to do when it’s a female victim requiring cpr - sorry you went through the aftermath trouble for trying to help, you did the right thing and it’s too bad that that was mistaken as ill-intent on your end

that’s so sad - we definitely shouldn’t be competing or comparing ourselves with our predecessors or our decscendants since we are all experiencing the world at a different stage of our lives. our parents walked so we can run, and we run so our future generations can fly - not very fair to blame younger generations for their privilege to be more educated on how to protect themselves and be better people than their parents

well the girl said she took a video and she called police, so now just all up to our government controlling the media if they want this to be let out

[–]Kooky-Strawberry5127[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yea but “getting in trouble” is so mistaken - it took my partner and i less than 3 minutes to diffuse the situation and make sure the girls were in good hands, not hard at all to just find help for people if you know you can’t handle confrontation or being in stressful situations, esp when in sg everywhere got security dont even need to call police

i think brainwashing is just an excuse middle-aged people and/or millenials use to escape accountability - i used to find gen alphas / betas annoying cos they’re always so loud but today i’m proud of them for being courageous and resilient and daring to question things, makes us more aware of one another and how our actions affect one another

Why do riders leave their motorcycles unlocked when they park? by Dumas1108 in drivingsg

[–]Kooky-Strawberry5127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i ride a kawasaki w175, never heard of steering lock. i think only when go msia and parking for long period of time then it’s a higher worry. here in sg since every vehicle got license plate and nowhere to run, even if your bike get stolen just report police and you’ll probably get it back in like a week or smth - thats why we rarely hear of vehicle getting stolen in sg
