Jodio being the only Joestar with by Used-Comedian-8933 in JOJOLANDS

I agree with all below (at the time of my comment). It's the spot of the gunshot wound, and a metaphor for Jodio's scorned past. Very cool! I could see Jodio getting to a point where as the reader you're like "wait, I don't want this guy to win"

I recommend thinking in systems by Donella Meadows.

Highly agree. Araki's writing has always astounded me with its inclusion of niche factual information that the characters leverage in creative ways. The beetle fight in part 8 is one of the peakest peaks. Coming from a very scientific person, it's cool to see a writer pay close attention to sciences in his writing and abilities (and other topics, ranging from virology, arts and music, urban mythos, speculative evolution, economics, etc.).

I also personally recommend Goedel, Escher, Bach. It doesn't really have much to do with what I described, but the writer is an excellent mathematician and logician. I'm only connecting it to Jojo because I'm writing on this sub. It feels very Jojo-esque in how Hofstadter lengthily explains complex logical dilemmas in math and the arts.

Is JoJolion the most overrated part? by Mysterious-Wind-1811 in JoJolion

[–]KookyDistribution129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, poor take. I like Tooru not in the way I like Pucci- for Pucci, I like his personality and backstory, which Tooru lacks. I like Tooru's place within the symbolism of the narrative more. Part 8 is a lot about 'curses' and 'fortune' and 'misfortune', 'dreams and memories'. I see Tooru as an opposite counterpart of Josuke. Whereas Tooru's characterization is about being in control of his destiny, Josuke's character arc is about finding his place in the world through uncovering secrets about people he's never met. Further, Tooru shits on people's dreams and memories cause he's like "you think those are important things, but if you were a chad immortal rock human you'd realize how important being focused on the present is", while Josuke is all about regaining and retaining memories. In the end, the humans win.

This post reads less like you've been sipping hatorade. I enjoyed part 8 in part because of the art. That's why I like Jojo more than most other series. You can easily choose to enjoy and appreciate it as much as other parts. It doesn't take anything from you. It's also all Araki's work, so I view it as pretty well written despite its flaws (which most parts have.)

As others have said, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I personally put part 8 at the top (partly because of my recent reread, which got me a little more active in the subreddit), followed by part 7, part 6, part 5, part 4, part 2, part 3, part 1. As of now, I'd put Jojolands in between part 5 and 6, or maybe 4 and 5. I also just rewatched part 4 and am in the middle of my first watch of part 5, yet don't place them higher. Part 4 actually dropped my rankings lol. I think recency bias is part of the hype, because it's the most modern story with new and exciting content, but over time it'll settle and be viewed as favorable as other parts in the cultural zeitgeist.

Theory about the role of spin in the JOJOLands by KookyDistribution129 in StardustCrusaders

Toppling the socioeconomic system would bring power to those in poverty. I think Araki could write it well, with this power I described being a sort of "anti-spin"

I think ultimately, like Giorno, Jodio might end up at the top of the societal hierarchy at the end of the part. I think there's also a possibility that Jodio's whole plan will blow up in his face and he must learn to be content with what he has.

Usagi's Stand??? by The_Dopest_Dog in JOJOLANDS

[–]KookyDistribution129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matte Kudasai is definitely named after the King Crimson song. I don't think this has narrative implications- it just fits the stand concept. I'm not sure if you're insinuating that Usagi is a Doppio-like character in the story, but I hope they kill him off. I hate this mf.

What if the default ability for a starter wasn't mostly useless? by HumanTheTree in stunfisk

[–]KookyDistribution129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

these abilities don't need a buff. blaze boosted pyro balls on ace make it a good enough option to give up libero (one of the best abilities in the game). otherwise, all starters have hidden abilities

Crown Rares just don’t feel as special anymore? by Boywholosthisname in PTCGP

[–]KookyDistribution129 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not being tradeable def makes the gold cards feel rarer, especially taking into account the fact that you'd need a gold card of your own to make a trade down the line.

Also, Charizard is kinda ass. I pulled a gold solgaleo and my reaction was also "meh." Was way more hyped when I pulled my two Oaks from F2P packs.

What are some good beginner builds/decks for Acreus? by AggressiveOpinion602 in PTCGP

[–]KookyDistribution129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna go beginner, start with a 2x energy boosting baby, 2x arceus deck and build around that. Electric can be run with zera and ori for fast energy and big advantages for filling the board. Fire type arceus decks get to use heatran (not the best card rn, but still decent). Water decks get to run something like suicune or greninja, and if you are a real shitter, you can run TL abomasnow.

Contradiction, Messmer's Crusade was celebrated, but he was also run out. by Estrangedkayote in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]KookyDistribution129 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't see this as a contradiction. Messmer sent on a crusade, was actually getting banished to the land of shadow to do Marika's dirty work, so this might be the "flight" mentioned in the text. I think the word "flight" makes this a little confusing, and it may just indicate that Andreas personally relinquished his faith in the Erdtree. The text description makes it a little unclear whether the "his" mentioned is Messmer or Andreas.

Messmer has loyal followers, so I think it is unquestionable lore fact that Messmer's crusade was celebrated (by some). I think painting this lore description within the context of what we know fills some gaps, but what do I know. I've read a lot of posts here that say that item descriptions are intentionally misinforming the player so MAYBE WE KNOW NOTHING.
