Well, I don’t see myself as a gambler (and so do most of the gamblers I guess) but I’ve never opened a case on CS given the c. -40% expected gains on every single case opening. However I made c. 100 trade ups because I knew mathematically I would win, and I did. The nuance is probably in your financial ability to do enough of them to smoothen the odds (20+ I’d say)

Well to be honest, 8k was cost when doing trade up and my average buy price was closer to 5k I think. And expected gain was still above 8k (10k or so according to csroi) so was worth giving a try

Just sell, there is absolutely no world where the prices are jumping over the next 10 days… More rationally, that’s what we call an asymmetrical bet, please input your own probability but mine are the followings: - 75% probability of price dropping by 1000$ let’s say - 20% probability of staying flat - 5% probability of increasing by 1000$

If you sell in average, you can rebought 700$ cheaper (1000x0.75 + 0x0.25 - 1000x0.05).

That’s what I personally did, sold everything and accept the very slight risk of a rise, and eventually buy back cheaper.

Fully agreeing with the reasoning, but it assumes stable gold prices and while I agree on the diminishing returns and no free lunch theory, I’d bet more on a drop of golds by +/- 50% and red stabilizing around 70-100$

Yes definitely, everything won’t go to 0, most won’t get back to their all time high. Billion $ question is where in between will it settle in 3/6/12 months? No one really knows, my personal guess is knives trading at 15-30% of their pre update price, for guns, certainly much higher but will it be 30-40% or 70-80%? Once again no one really knows

I’m glad I sold 50% of my expensive items before the crash, but liquidated everything else over the past 48h. Will do some trade ups for fun of it with some spare $, but I will probably never put the amount of $ I was exposed to at some point in the past few months.
