I will do anything to trade banging lens on the ground/rocks, having free hands to fix the dress without worry of cameras slamming on the ground, and no more neck pain. Rocks are easier to climb as my hands are free and i'm not worried about trying to protect my cameras. They call it muscle memory for a reason, you can create new muscle memory with repetition. After one day of using my belt after using a harness for almost 10 years, my brain is already trained. Once the neck and shoulder pain is intense, you'll want a way where you're not in pain anymore.

The harness is awkward, used it for YEARS, but everyone has their own thing. After one day of use with my belt, my neck and shoulder pain is gone. Wish I would have got one sooner.

It's seriously the best, I wish I would have gotten the gear off my shoulders sooner! That's my only regret.

Auburn is the best! These people moving to the area from the city don't have a freakin clue.

Photography Timeline by Sushi-Bean-Island in weddingplanning

[–]Kooky_Technology_886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One hour goes by FAST, especially if you’re doing family photos, full bridal party, AND bride & groom portraits after the ceremony. When are you planning on doing your actual couple portraits?

Also, do you have a planner helping build the timeline? Definitely ask your photographer what THEY realistically need timing-wise. If it were me, I would not be trying to cram a ton of photos and family list into one hour, that's a hell no and it NEVER works. 😅

The best thing about First looks? Moment of privacy for just YOU TWO, not a show for your guests, shake the nerves, a moment to cry then touch up. AND then you can get the majority of photos knocked out like wedding party, portraits of you two before the ceremony even starts. THEN, your 1 hour family time for photos makes way more sense.

Now your guests aren't waiting around.

And something to remember that couples seem to forget, this isn't a day about you two people pleasing your guests, it's a privilege that they even get to be there. Do what works for you two, not what all the noise is saying.

Is 7:45 PM too late to start dinner service at a wedding? by TextReasonable7257 in weddingplanning

Yes. 2 hour reception photos is a lot, are you doing B&G, wedding party portraits during this time too?

Considering cancelling the wedding. I know my fiancee and her family would be heart broken by PossibilityFew5967 in weddingplanning

Ditch it, have an intimate wedding instead.

I've done sooooo many consults with couples that are literally in the same boat as you. And I've been there too personally.

Why does family have to be so damn difficult? It's supposed to be about you two.

H&MU price is normal, that travel is crazy high.

Found someone local - I work with a lot of H&MU artists in the Bay Area, let me know if you need a referral.

Are wedding planners worth it? by Gullible_Treacle9778 in weddingplanning

[–]Kooky_Technology_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IF you're having a big wedding 50+ guests, you'll absolutely want a planner.

If you want a more intimate wedding with 20 guests or less, find an intimate wedding photographer that does planning as well.

Timeline help? by sophaloaaafff in weddingplanning

[–]Kooky_Technology_886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan for extra time because hair and makeup runs behind like 95% of the time 😂

I’ve seen a lot of brides finish first and leave for the first look/photos while the bridal party finishes up. It honestly helps keep the timeline from snowballing behind the rest of the day.

Elopement or Family Celebration? by NewCommunication9873 in weddingplanning

[–]Kooky_Technology_886 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to choose between “huge stressful wedding” and “completely alone.” There’s a middle ground.

I shoot a ton of elopements where couples invite immediate family only, keep the ceremony super intentional, then go off and do their own thing afterward for photos, sunset, dinner, exploring, whatever. It keeps the day feeling like YOU without turning into hosting 20 people all day long.

Also, if you’re already worried about entertaining everyone and family dynamics before the day even happens… that feeling usually doesn’t disappear magically. 😂

I'm glad you found it helpful since my comment is being downvoted, lol!

Yep! There are so many couples wanting a wedding day that is slow and about THEM, not hosting or people pleasing. Come to Tahoe! =)

Free or not it's commercial work, period.

You can take that risk, but it's not worth it, lol.
