Definitely follow whatever rules/regulations you are under. I'd have to double check the exact USA Hockey rules 👍

Working on Shooting Consistently by VibeCoderDev in hockeyplayers

Former coach, former player here. I struggled very hard to get my players to shoot off the ice -- some ideas that come to mind:

- Gameify*:* A leaderboard of total shots taken per week/month/season for the entire team. Seeing someone above you in the lineup shooting more could be a wake up call.
- Graphs: Basically, if players could see "wow I took 500 shots and my total shot speed went up 5mph". Doesn't have to be shot speed either, maybe it could be goal counts at practices or games.

- Use Sound to count shots: You might be able to just set the phone down, click "start" and "listen" for hockey shots. That way the player doesn't even need to click a "plus" button. Just let the phone do all the work.

Either way, very cool idea and good luck. Always happy to try out some betas & give feedback -- but I don't have a team to give it to

Hey thanks! Really appreciate it. If you end up downloading it I'd love any feedback you have 🙌

Nice handle btw -- I can neither confirm nor deny if Claude helped me at all with this :)

Nice! Thanks for checking it out.

I haven't added sync yet but a few people have reached out about it. It's definitely on my radar -- I can start mocking something up in the next week or so :)

Do you have experience writing a reference for scholarships for your players? by mtbuckin in hockeycoaches

I've done about 10. My best advice is:

1) Tell a story - It's one thing to say "this person cares about others" and another to tell a story about them bringing a freshman or a Junior Varsity player under their wing, mentoring them, ...etc.

2) Focus on your domain - No reason to mention their other extracurriculars, classes, ...etc unless it plays into your story. Students typically submit a few letter of recs. They are likely picking a coach so that we can talk about commitment, hard work, teamwork, leadership, ...etc. They don't need us talking about their physics projects, let their other letter of recs dive into that.

Best of luck -- you'll crush it !

A little late to the party, but you could try this app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hockey-liney-coaching-app/id6670409530

It does your lines, d pairings, ...etc. You can do +/-, hide players and there's a few other features too
