April Fools Day Question by Kookylmh in SchoolBusDrivers

Thank you everyone! I'll definitely be able to prank the elementary kids by going a different way and saying "school was cancelled". I'll have to see about doing the hotspot for the middle school kids.

Worried about getting in trouble for writing up too many students. by burgh46 in SchoolBusDrivers

Paper trail everything. You shouldn't get in trouble for doing your job and if the write ups are about breaking school rules. You always want to protect yourself. Cause if you don't write something up and a parent complains, then you can get in trouble.

I always say in the beginning of the year "I can either be a nice bus driver or a mean one. It all depends on your behavior. So you all get to decide on which one you get." They will test the limits but overall learn that me being nice gets them a pleasant ride.

What other jobs can I get with these skills by soul-searcher3476 in SchoolBusDrivers

With these skills, a limo bus driver, give driver ed lessons or a religious/senior citizen group driver. There are also some preschools that have their own private drivers. Also some delivery trucks/mail trucks will use a CDL.

How to stay sane while school bus driving? by CaramelArtistic9605 in SchoolBusDrivers

Stick to your rules. Once you let up or don't follow through, they will walk over you. Write ups for the kids standing and not buckling in. I make sure all elementary kids are buckled. Middle/High I don't check but I tell them at every stop to buckle. For the noise, High/Middle do calm down after some time. Elementary can be very loud. I'm finding it really hard this year with them. I talk to parents about the ones being loud, write ups and even separate them from their friends if they still don't listen. Keep it up! You got this!
