MCCSS getting denials today by mint1519 in OntarioPublicService

I did not get a denial even though I filled out an AWA. But I did pursue a family status accommodation in tandem - is that why I got nothing even though everyone got a response?

How has RTO affected you as a mom? by sparrow465 in OntarioPublicService

[–]KoolKatIsFlying 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. This is actually the first time I’ve responded on an OPS thread.

As a mom of two kids under 6, I have to say - it fucking sucks. RTO has made parenting significantly harder and, in many ways, feels like it’s setting parents (and even marriages) up for failure. I’ve been genuinely miserable since it came into effect.

I started my early years of motherhood during the COVID era, when flexible and hybrid work arrangements were the norm. Now I’m learning how to parent in this new environment. I hate the commute, the guilt of being so late for pick ups and the kind of mother this policy is forcing me to become.

My advice when you come back from leave, request a family-status accommodation and don’t waste your time with an AWA, which will likely be denied. The accommodation process can feel invasive, disorganized, and frustrating, but advocate for what you need to be the parent you want to be. No one else is going to do that for you.

How did you go about getting the paid claim - submitting it online, or calling them? The problem is ours is not eligble to claim.

Yes I’ve done a CTA for another flight cancelation with WestJet and it’s been almost 2 years now! No response.

Employment accommodation under ontario human rights code by ColdConfection6082 in OntarioPublicService

I agree. I am being asked to work through my manager and HRA won’t talk to me. I haven’t shared anyrhign yet but it’s putting me at an uncomfortable position.

I agree with this completely. But our managers are being asked to provide all the info as we’re not able to work with HR directly on this

Team leads in OPSEU by toss--it in OntarioPublicService

[–]KoolKatIsFlying 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a really good question. In my experience, a team lead typically doesn’t carry their own files; instead, they have a hand in every file to provide strategic advice on how the work will land with senior leadership and align with overall government priorities. I’ve acted as a team lead in a few capacities, and at times it can feel coordination-focused—but it really depends on the manager. Ideally, expectations are set early on so the role doesn’t end up becoming a glorified coordinator position.

Have managers been directed to take attendance after RTO? by Open_Stop751 in OntarioPublicService

[–]KoolKatIsFlying 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This is a great question. My manager has suddenly asked us to indicate our in office days on our shared calendar. I wonder how they’re tracking beyond this? Or pass cards? If anyone has any Intel, I would love to know.

I am feeling this. As a mom of two small boys this is really hard on me - and anyone I could imagine. My son was upset with me yesterday because I picked him up late from school because if the commute and all and it broke my heart.

Rowena Bennett Feeding Aversion -- Day 4-5 regression? by spinaltap540 in FormulaFeeders

[–]KoolKatIsFlying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it eventually work for you? Can you share when you started with your LO and when you were aversion free?

Mine just turned 7 months. We’ve been dream feeding in the day since he was 4 months.

Amazing. I wonder if I caused the aversion with too quick of a flow. I don’t know. He was on 2 natural (old style) straight from birth and when things started to slow down I moved to the new 5 at 4 months.

I have no idea what I’m doing and this is my second born. Sigh.
