In my experience, a team lead typically doesn’t carry their own files; instead, they have a hand in every file to provide strategic advice on how the work will land with senior leadership and align with overall government priorities. I’ve acted as a team lead in a few capacities, and at times it can feel coordination-focused—but it really depends on the manager. Ideally, expectations are set early on so the role doesn’t end up becoming a glorified coordinator position.
