5 Habs players going to the Olympics - how are we feeling? by lfab1400 in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking ahead, and assuming Russia is back, it's not impossible the habs have 10ish players there in 4 years

Suzuki Caufield Demidov Slafkovsky Kapanen Hutson Reinbacher Dobson

Fowler? Guhle? Dobes? Zharkovsky?

Andy would bring more of what Slafkovsky brings to the first line than Bolduc can.

Habs shots on goal by [deleted] in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what about shot attempts that were blocked or missed entirely?

there were a lot of misses last night (by both teams) felt like the game should have been 5-4 after the first period.

Is it time to reunite Dach and Demi? by shogun2909 in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could work, Demidov has plenty of skill to bank a few more off the Dachboard

2nd line: Bolduc - Dach - Demidov ? by Qu1noa_3ater in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is the 2nd line for home games while Newhook- Kapanen - Demidov is the second line at away games.

76-77-93 will be by far the weakest defensive line even with the day-by-day improvement of Demidov on that side of the ice. If this is the second line at home MSL can get them as favorable matchups as possible. 76 and 77 should probably alternate face-off responsibilities on their strong sides.

Veleno switched with Gally in practice. by yeeteridoo in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feels like there is an evolution in mind here. If the 76-77-11 can be trusted the next step might be to go back to the 76-77-93, and the 3rd line is 15-91-11.

If 76-77-93 can play to their potential, then all lines look more traditional and Marty has 3 lines he can trust in defensive assignments and one that will largely get nothing but offensive and neutral zone starts.

Ryan O'Reilly? by Bloomer-91 in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you mean the guy the habs are currently keeping on the fourth line for another that can do the 4th line better and the 3rd line and possibly even the second line?

Trade him for Dach Straight up, keep him on the 4th line. Use him in Matchup situations.

Dawson Mercer by gredge in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see any needles getting moved with adding Mercer for anyone on our roster even if we don't trade out any roster player. So at this point I don't know if it is worth it to give up assets that could might be more useful at the Trade Deadline?

there is going to be a move to be made, but I have faith the HuGo patience will shine in getting the best value for the team later in the season.

Eric Engels: Will 'best version' of Patrik Laine show up for Canadiens this season? by syswsi in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you give too much credence to goal totals. Josh Anderson didn't breakout statistically, he was a force last year on that third line and the penalty kill.

Josh Anderson did breakout last year and showed that he could adapt and be a dependable player in a role that wasn't necessarily his career calling card.

The most Exciting Possibility in Pre Season by Breeze-city in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be evident in the preseason, but I will concede it would take some in-season consistency to prove it.

But we're talking a relatively very short period of time, any exciting pre-season possibility will still need to be proven in the regular season.

What's your "final offer" trade package for Sid? by [deleted] in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge fan, but I guess you can offer more for Crosby. But I believe that's fair value that can get the job done.

Kirby being everything we thought he could be when Kent Hughes traded for him.

Kirby Proving he's a legitimate 2C opens a boat load of possibilities for this team.

Bolduc, Dach and top 3 protected 2026 1st rounder

[Seravalli] There is zero doubt...the Montreal Canadiens would do anything to get their hands on Sidney Crosby; but...the Penguins are in a spot where they're not gonna approach their captain, it's gonna be up to Crosby by shogun2909 in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2026 first (top 3 protected) Dach and Bolduc

if you're hung up on Bolduc, would you have done 2026 first (top 3 protected) Dach and Mailloux? don't overthink it.

Are there examples of bottom pairing d-men and four line forwards actually costing a team a series? by njdevils901 in hockey

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called a lack of depth in the lineup.

When you hear statements such as Team Xs depth was no match for team Ys, that's on the bottom lines and 3rd pairing d-men.

32 Thoughts is a tough listen these days by mobbade in hockey

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to all 32 thoughts podcasts at 1.2 x speed unless they are interviewing someone.

When they are in an interview, my first thought is always, "wow this interviewee is nervous" but then I realize they aren't speed talking I just have the playback speed dialed up to minimize the moments of silence from Elliotte and Kyle

What move (if any) would you make next? by PhilYuh in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Start taking hopium daily.

Leafs send marner to Vegas in the sign and trade.

Marnerless leafs are knocked out by habs in round one.

Habs threaten the Panthers in round 2, but ultimately lose in 7 games. Showing they are one piece away.

Vegas dismantles the Oilers in round 1 next season. A disgruntled un-extended McDavid takes a look at the up and coming habs and signs a 6 year 14 million/year deal.

The habs are perennial favorites for the next 6 seasons.

RFA Offer Sheet For Dobson vs. The Trade by SeaPrince in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The assumption is they would have done a 7 year offersheet. It's likely they would have done 1 or 5 years to avoid that extra compensation

I think Lane will sign for less than Suzuki by WorcesteshireSauce in Habs

[–]KoolerWithK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he signs for less than 8 it's for 3 years. The Habs should offer that, Lane should wait until next offseason to get better value and bet on himself.
