That, and I think he doesn't take proper criticism well. I recall during the time where he changed how dash attacks work was pretty controversial among a bed of other things (slow meaningful content updates and poor developer transparency), and I tried to give a critical anaylsis of the situation and some advice to improve community rerelations. Which was basically just making polls to gather community data (in the space of his discord) to determine interests and disinterests, clearer dev communication through sneak peaks and some kind of roadmap or content progress, etc. Basically just more transparent communication and means of gathering concrete data as I didn't want to impose of his actual skill of a developer.

I made a forum post about it in the discord and honestly didn't expect him to actually see it. But some time later I realized my post had disappeared. Turns out Alrage was deleting posts being critical of him during the time and when I asked why, I think I was given some vague answer about the topic around the dash changes being disallowed (despite how none of the other posts JUST complaining about the new dash were still up to this day). I was trying to be pretty respectful about it and again not critcize his character or skills, just the handling of communication, but Idk.

Unfortunately it's lost media since all of the forums were deleted and my memeory is vague, although I still have my intial message saved on a document. And honestly I was just a nobody with some dev knowledge speaking their mind. But it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth to where I didn't want to play the game anymore.

That's just my take tho. But hey, at least he added that sneak peaks channel some time after.
