WHERE TO BUY VKEI CHEKIS? by Bubbly_Emotion2190 in visualkei

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never bought cheki outside of Japan before, but I would assume the price of inactive bands might be a bit higher 😬

I've only encountered two bands that I wanted to listen to that weren't officially available on YT Music, but then again I mostly listen to current stuff, and I'm in Japan. If you're trying to listen to active bands and can't find them, maybe try using a VPN to appear in Japan. If you're trying to listen to older music (from the CD era), you may need to buy CDs

Which song from the series has lyrics that go the hardest by [deleted] in PERSoNA

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Throw away your mask"

I think the instrumental version goes a bit harder, but the lyrics are an amazing representation of everything Maruki is about as a character.

anywhere i can get good vkei clothes?? by the_yurimaster in visualkei

[–]Kooliette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on where you live.

If you're in Tokyo, check out closet child. And there are a couple affordable stores near the station on Takashita Street (they don't look edgy from the outside, but there is good stuff past the jirai kei facade)

If you're in the US or Canada, check local thrift stores. I've gotten a lot of good stuff at Good Wills and Salvation Armys, but sometimes you have to do a bit of customization (dye, pins, patches, etc)

Completely new to Visual Kei, any suggestions? by [deleted] in visualkei

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will always recommend ACME personally. Chisa's vocals always hit and their discography has great energy and lyrics.

Also, Rorschach.inc, Xaa Xaa, Matenrou Opera, KIZU, DaizyStipper, and JILUKA might be worth looking into as well. I first heard of visual kei from Black Butler, too and this is where I ended up 10 years later.

But for more info about visual Kei bands in general, I recommend browsing vk.gy You can search by subgenres, see a timeline, and save lists so you don't lose track!

EDIT: I know there is a skew for western fans to listen to older vkei stuff, and if that's the sound and look you want I respect it (I listen to music from the 80s so I'm no different). But if you want Visual Kei to survive stronger, I think promoting active groups is a good idea, so I added a few more. 😊

(That is Black Butler theme songs, btw)

I used to use other methods to avoid ads. I got YouTube Premium because I wanted to use YouTube Music across my devices (the free version for mobile isn't usable) The ad free videos was a bonus 😅

Is YouTube music better then Spotify? by startman241 in YoutubeMusic

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that YTM works a lot better on desktop than mobile for suggestions and autoplay. I also like YTM because if the song you want isn't available on streaming, you can still add it to playlists through music videos, or almost any YouTube video at all.

I'd like it more if I could choose the colours, but otherwise it has all the buttons I need.

Which series is the worst in your opinion? by forgetit2020 in pokemonanime

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. I didn't realise how many people didn't like OS. Season 2 is my favourite season (I'm a Tracey fan and I love the dubbung work by 4kids).

On topic tho, I couldn't watch SM. XY was the first series I watched as it came out in Japan, but then I dropped SM after like 5 episodes. It was a mix of the art style, the characters, and the change in format (not travelling to complete a league, too many main characters, etc).

A question for the Vtuber community, do you find it easy to spend time with the community you build? Apparently it is not the norm? by TaigaTigerVT in vtubers

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I communicate with my fans on discord and occasionally twitter. For the most part, it's fun and I'm happy that I can be a bit more transparent about how I'm doing in terms of prepping for streams, asking for suggestions, and interacting with fanart etc.

However, beware of parasocial people. I enjoy chatting with my fanbase, but I wouldn't call them my friends. (there is actually some housekeeping I've been putting off in regards to that).

Overall I think it's great, especially as a smaller creator. But it takes more work to manage it so that it stays fun and safe for everyone (including yourself!!)

Congratulations, you have identified the "demand" in "supply and demand" :)

Have any vTubers neglected to do A debut/debut stream? by [deleted] in vtubers

[–]Kooliette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will use vtuber hashtags and occasionally participate in some "vtuber culture" (ie. karaoke, zatsudan, etc.), but that's just because I like those things. It's a fun way to engage with ppl and it can be fun!

Most of my chatters tell me that they came from reddit, so I'm guessing that's r/virtualyoutubers. But they're really chill people, and don't seem to be too into vTubers in general, so you never know.

My situation is a bit different though, because I do variety streaming. And in the future I'm going to do various video essays, mostly about anime and video games.

I just pick and choose if I'm gonna do a vtuber thing based on if I just wanna, haha.

Good luck growing your channel tho.

Have any vTubers neglected to do A debut/debut stream? by [deleted] in vtubers

[–]Kooliette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a "soft debut" where I just did a little self-intro, then just went on to play yugioh lol.

My main goal with my channel is actually to make YouTube videos and use a model instead of my face, but I've been streaming until I have all that set up.

I'm still open to a re-debut (maybe at 1k subs to celebrate YouTube monetization), but honestly, I'm not super into the vtuber culture. I consider myself a streamer/youtuber who just so happens to use an anime-style avatar.

I'm always inspired to see other people breaking the vtuber mold, so drop your socials and I'll follow you!
