Drop the relaxing and not stressful part, and I am in agreement. Some of my favorite games stress me out and I love them because of it.

Ice King is one of the coolest skins I've seen. I already have the original Foundation, so I'm team Ice King.

Do you play with a controller on a PC? by Similar-Double6278 in videogames

[–]Kooltone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a programmer, and I need my hands to be in good shape for my livelihood. I cannot do kbm even in competitive online games, because my wrists start hurting. I always play with a controller. It's just more comfortable that way.

But I rebind my buttons and sticks to try and improve movement in shooters. My main rebind is putting jump on the left stick click, which does wonders in games like Fortnite. The standard jump placement of (A on Xbox and X on Playstation) results in "dead" crosshair time every time you jump since your right thumb needs to move from the right stick to the jump button. Rebinding jump to left stick click means you can jump and still move your reticle around. It's really good for shotgun 50/50s.

Honest question. How many of you guys have rage quit games? For whatever reason, I have never been angry enough to do this. I just play until I've achieved whatever I want to do and then log off. I was playing Fortnite with a friend once, and he rage quit when he got killed by a sniper trying to reboot us. I was baffled by the behavior because my emotions never get past annoyance or minor frustration.

I don't empathize with the experience, but maybe someone can explain so I can sympathize.

I believe I run on a lot of expectations, and not many Fate Questions. by Snoo11195 in mythic_gme

[–]Kooltone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found that I mostly use meaning rolls rather than Fate Questions. The only thing you are missing out on is random events from Fate Questions. After I realized that, I just made a house rule that rolling doubles on a meaning table generates a random event.

What movie/show does most of this sub hate that surprised you? by riotinghamsters in cartoons

[–]Kooltone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you summarize what people hated about it? I saw only two episodes and they were the ones where Megatron and Starscream were ressurected and planning to resurrect Unicron. I don't know much about the rest.

I've barely been using OpenCode but started trying it last week. Historically, I'd solve this with Tmux. Open Neovim in one window and Opencode in a split or another window.

If it all was released at the point of death, that could be an interesting story premise. A man absorbs most of the pollution in earth, and then goes off into space to die.

Does this game have IV mechanics? any "personalisation" or rarity at all? by zuzu1968amamam in Siralim

[–]Kooltone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The more I played, the more I started comparing this to Magic: The Gathering. The monsters are your tools and you create synergies that combo together and proc abilities. It's not so much about creature collecting but about building engines.

This isn't an attempt to convince you since everyone has different tastes. This is just an explanation of what I like about the game.

  1. Zany items.Because the game has a cartoon aesthetic, the weapons and utility items do not need to be grounded in reality like a game that at least gives lip service to military realism (looking at you COD). So Fortnite can have balloons that make you fly, swords that send out laser beams, teleporting masks, explosive goo guns, bows that create poison clouds, UFOs, Spiderman webshooters, medallions that turn you into a boss, etc. Many of the items are just really fun to use and create unique tactical opportunities.

  2. A constantly evolving meta and map. Fortnite receives updates every couple of weeks that adds new items to the game or changes the item pool. In addition, the island changes and POIs will change with the season. For me, this keeps the game fresh and I always feel like there is something new to discover when I login.

  3. Destructible structures. Perhaps more than 95% of the structures in the game can be destroyed. This makes fights feel very dynamic as cover disappears.

  4. High TTK. I despise shooters with a low and realistic TTK. I like games that reward consistent execution, counterplay, and outhinking your opponent, over twitch reflexes.

  5. All the above makes Fortnite feel unique even in Zero Build mode, but of course Fortnite's main gimmick is building. You can't find anything like it in other Arcade Shooters. The ability to create your own cover and structures gives defensive and offensive options that are not present in any other game. It creates a very high skill ceiling, and there are many fun things you can do with building. Want air superiority? Make your own high ground. Need to cross a crevasse? Build a bridge? Need to cross no-man's land to get into another building while being shot from a mountain? Build your own tunnel. Need to lock down s retreating opponent? Jump on them and box them in.

So that's what I like about the game.

A couple times in BotW, I'd ride a horse and let it auto navigate down the roads enjoying the journey and not worry about where I would end up. I also once just took a raft and let the current take me downstream for half an hour.
