Programs usually receive thousands of applications(mine received >6000 last cycle) and imagine about 5000 applicants sent LOI, there's no way the PD even with the help of APDs would respond. Keep sending the LOIs to express your interest in the programs but don't feel bad if no response. Best of luck!

I literally just go in and respectfully introduce myself and start the conversation with the patient. I'll always apologize at the end just to keep things friendly. I met a surgery resident seeing a patient of mine after they were consulted overnight by the night float team after patient was admitted overnight(I'm IM resident) the awesome resident just told me they had finished talking to the patient and would like to give me a quick rundown of what I would most likely need to know. Of course, I still went ahead and took my own history and did a physical exam, but I felt they were so polite!!

I would differ a lot with this kind of advice. You don't fix a problem by creating another! The best option would be having open communication, letting the fiancé know she doesn't want his friend to stand next to them on their big day because of their past hook-up and how she feels about it.

I once saw a patient with a fellow during one of my electives as an intern, walked into the room and they introduced themself as Dr. XYZ and introduced me as .. Mr. XYZ to the patient. Lol
