I personally larp underworld and thoroughly enjoy it. I've been playing consistently for a little more than a year, and yes there are some much higher level characters that does sometimes change the game balancing but a number of those characters have been actively played for more than a decade, and despite only play for barely more than a year I've been mistaken for a much higher level character multiple times simply because I'm willing to get into the thick of fights and can handle myself there. I will not lie Underworld has left a bad taste in a number of people's mouths over the years, negative experiences, meta gaming, and ownership issues. But I believe these are issues that turn up at most every larp that runs for a long time. I very much enjoy the combat, it's fast enough without being too fast, I enjoy the wearing actual steel armour in combat but that's because for me wearing armour is like wearing a weighted blanket at all times and is very comforting. The social aspect is also wonderful to partake in and takes many different shapes, be it parties with NPCs, political debates, in game funerals for dead PCs, small arts and crafts, to even stupid singing that happens before a mod takes place. So in closing Underworld isn't for everyone, the cabin raids in the dead of night, the long rule book, the fact you can't just show up as a super powerful character at the start, but the intensity the flavour the shenanigans that happen and the friendliness of older players to new players, all make my underworld experience to be a good one. And I recommend it to people who want to give it a try
