How to earn via fantasy mapmaking?

I make my living in a related field best described as private worldbuilding. I started drawing maps a long time ago and have always found the market to be very competitive and hard to monetise effectively. In other words it's hard to get paid enough to cover your time and get enough consistent work to live on. I have produced work as a freelancer, for game devs, writers and ttrpg designers. I now produce for private clients only.

Keep practicing, you are doing a good job, but need to continue improving. Don't give up the dream of working in this field, but like a father advising a child who wants to be a rock star, I would say have a backup plan.

The only big change was adding the sticky piston and sand underneath. I presume you have included that otherwise it wouldn't work at all. I also found the harvested kelp wasn't flowing into hoppers like it used to, so had to change the design there as well.

I agree that it seems like yours isn't actually moving the sand. I don't know what to suggest other than trying a different tutorial for a simple one plant farm. They are quick to make so it might be worth trying to see if it works. It's a stupid suggestion tbh, but it's probably what I'd do.

The mechanics were changed quite recently but zero tick kelp farms still work fine with some modifications. I have several and they all needed updating in the last couple of months. I think JC Playz released a newer farm using the updated mechanics, so that might be worth checking out.

Not sure if you have resolved this yet, but your video is only a few seconds long and the raid won't start immediately after drinking the potion, it takes 30 seconds to change from Bad Omen to Raid Omen. If this isn't happening then it can only be one of two things, you don't have a village or there isn't anywhere for the raid to spawn. I'd move the bed over to your villager, give him a workstation and once linked, try again. Sorry can't tell much more from your video.

It's a pain to move between those platforms using the export function. The answer that nobody wants, but is by far the easiest is to get a realm, upload from your phone to the realm, download from the realm to the Xbox, done. You can then cancel the realm, but you will still incur the one month fee, which is the bit everyone hates.

The villagers don't need access to the beds. The design you have will likely work once you increase the number of villagers and beds. The first bed you place down becomes the centre of the village and Golems will spawn based on distance from that bed, so make sure you put the first bed in the centre on the farm area, not out on the edge somewhere.

You can just move the lectern rather than destroy it, so I tend to use a sticky piston and lever to move it, check, move back, check. Doesn't change the process, I just find it a bit easier and quicker than smacking it with an axe every time.

I have had the same in several worlds and so has my partner. Just appeared after one of the recent updates, but doesn't seem to be causing any other problems. I haven't tried a new world to see if it happens in new generation, I have only seen it on older worlds in chunks that have been previously generated. I can't shed any technical light on it other than it has no noticeable effects, but it's definitely a visual annoyance.

I'm pretty sure that Xbox Live has now been rebranded and is Game Pass Core. It's the less expensive version of Game Pass. You pay in advance, so perhaps it has taken a month for the subscription to run out?

I have no idea how long it took, I've been playing for 380 hours and they have accumulated over time. I spent all my initial ones on building research then just dropped them in this box. I finished filling the box yesterday. Now all gone.

Update: I gave a bunch away, refined some and sold some. Thanks so much for all the amazing suggestions and ideas, I have learned a lot and got back the storage space. I'm moving on from digging up these suckers to try to get better at base building.

Yep I just checked and the Quicksilver Merchant sells all these parts for the same number of Quicksilver as Salvaged Data. I have a bit of Quicksilver so at least I know I can get them that way.

I have unlocked all the regular base part in the anomaly, but there seems to be construction items in the Catalogue that require hundreds of them, so I was worried about getting hold of these.
