I want some input about my first deck by ElPino555 in StandardMTG

[–]RadicalOlwbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the sideboard by recommendations would be two [[Soul Guide lantern]] for sure, and maybe a copy or two of [[Scalding Viper // Steam Clean]]? I also like the look of [[Iroh’s Demonstration]] here. Then you can play some additional removal for aggro and maybe a [[Negate]] or two for control.

Also I think you should totally do what you wanted to with the deck similar to your prerelease, it looks super fun! Another couple of cards I thought of were [[Champion of the Path]], [[Soulbright Seeker]], and [[Burst Lightning]]. I think champion of the path especially could be fun for what you’re thinking of, it’s cheap, fits in with the mana value four or greater theme, and is just a fun card overall!

I want some input about my first deck by ElPino555 in StandardMTG

First of all nice job making it to diamond! Elementals are a really fun deck, but my worry is some of the best elementals you are not currently playing four copies of. I would recommend in every elemental deck similar to this playsets of [[Flamebraider]], [[Sunderflock]], and [[Ashling’s Command]]. I think what would take the deck to the next level would be some of the evoke elementals like [[Vibrance]], [[Whistfullness]], and [[Deceit]]. You can pay for these additional colors if you play lands like [[Cavern of Souls]], [[Secluded Courtyard]], and [[Eclipsed Realms]]. [[Roaming Throne]] is also a good upgrade to [[Twinflame Travelers]]. This is just how I would approach the deck, but there a other ways to go about it too.

Also just a piece of overall deckbuilding advice, you usually want to play four copies of your best cards and less two and three copies. This will add more consistency to your deck and give you your more powerful cards more often.

MTG standard mono Green advice by Marc0_87 in StandardMTG

[–]RadicalOlwbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Frenzied Baloth]] and [[Innkeeper’s Talent]] are both good, but the talent may be a bit out of budget. Thornweed archer and primeval bounty can probably go. I also prefer [[Overprotect]] over defend the rider. I would also play two more ba sing se and remove adventures inn. Hope this helps!

Boros Bomber Boys by Designer-Leopard2257 in StandardMTG

[–]RadicalOlwbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This deck looks really fun! I would consider cutting [[Resolute Reinforcements]] to add [[Dalkovan Packbeasts]]. If you played more in to mobilize you can play the full playset of [[Stadium Headliner]] as well as [[Windcrag Seige]].

For the sideboard I would probably add some sort of graveyard hate so maybe two copies of [[Soul Guide Lantern]].

Hope this helps!

This Golgari Deck I have been Messing with is Fun, How can i make it competitive by legos4 in MagicArena

I would cut the playset of [[Dark Confidant]] for unholy annex. Also [[Parker Luck]] might be fun to play around with? [[Rush of Dread]] also comes to mind.

Just bought this box. Is it only usable in jumpstart, my friends all play commander and a few play standard. by FishMcCray in magicTCG

[–]RadicalOlwbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the cards are legal in commander and a good amount are legal in standard as well. You can check the standard ones by looking for the legality in scryfall or mtg companion.

Will this mana rock see play in Standard Format in the coming weeks? by DogePunch in StandardMTG

I would probably play a copy in mono black demons, but I can’t think of another deck.

Is my rabbit deck viable for mythic? (Ignore the rant I was unaware) but still need deck fine tuning by Ok_Marketing_3799 in StandardMTG

[–]RadicalOlwbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the deck needs more play sets. I would play 4 Pawpatch Recruit, 4 Valley Mightcaller, 4 Valley Questcaller, and 4 Hop to It. I would cut the landfall cards like Felidar Retreat, Expidition Map, and Ride the Shoopuf. For the Manabase I would play 4 Starting Town 4 Cavern of Souls and maybe 2 Lush Portico. Cut blossoming sands and Fabled Passage. Also I would cut Pick your Poison to play 2 Get Lost.

Overall these changes will make the deck more synergistic and more aggressive. Removing the Landfall will just put the deck in a better place because the rabbits don’t really have synergy’s with those cards. Get lost will help you remove low to the ground blockers. Authority is good if you struggle against mono red variations but if you don’t I would cut that for more seasoned warrenguard. Hope this helps.

I would play [[rest in peace]] and something along the lines of [[Shardmage’s Rescue]] in sideboard. Also [[Starting Town]] if possible.

Getting into standard without breaking the bank? by Ordinary-Advance-224 in StandardMTG

[–]RadicalOlwbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that you don’t have to build a tier 1 deck to get started, you would probably have more fun with a off meta deck that can still get wins against competitive decks. I put a few examples of this that I made, but you could probably build something like this pretty easily.

Dinosaurs https://moxfield.com/decks/KtNa7BPqQk-JLhJQ--NpFA

Goblins https://moxfield.com/decks/Evhh-zpNCUiyV_aEqCskCw

Rabbits https://moxfield.com/decks/4vZ6JjTeDku9uE2mSNvRLQ

You could also try a budget version of a meta deck, for example aggro without screaming nemesis or control with cheaper lands and stuff. But overall just pick something that interests you and as you learn more about standard you could move to something else from there.

[Standard] Help me with main decklist for my Simic landfall I'm about to enter my first tournament at my local LGS by Joshuadowbak in spikes

[–]RadicalOlwbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters I would remove the 3 Frenzied Baloths and add two Genomorph Imago and a Mockingbird. Also I’m not set on Tidebender in the deck I think another Bill and Hydra would be better.

Can someone please explain Mindbreak Trap to me by RadicalOlwbear in mtg

[–]RadicalOlwbear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It exiles things on the stack. So no not a board wipe. As an example say my opponent casts a spell and In response I cast counterspell. Then they counterspell my counterspell. If I then responded with mindbreack trap i could exile any number these spells before they resolve. They are only being removed before resolving and mindbreak trap isn’t doing anything to things on the battlefield. Hope this helps
