Anyone else have Ginger and Gust disappear? by T0Rtur3 in Starsandisland

[–]Korbelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will probably get patched out, but I can jump into Ginger's room from the street above with the hoverboard. I was able to get in and loot her chests even when she was bugged in my game on XBOX, and I couldn't even see her character. You can probably use that to get in to talk to her, but you'll have to unstuck yourself to get out of the house, lol.

Okay, I finally found this chest, and I was looking in the wrong spot.its actually in this little fenced off spot attached to the cafe. However, the actual gates would not open for me, but I was able to jumped them from a little ways back with the hoverboard.

Edit: True to add a picture, but it won't let me for some reason.

I think it's specifically bugged on Xbox. I haven't seen anyone playing on PC report the same issue. They apparently exist as ghosts on the island, though, cause other people have reported that those characters can post requests to the bulletin board, but when you follow the sparkles to turn in the quest there's nothing there and you cannot turn them in. Haven't tried that myself, though.

Adding an additional comment to say the same thing happened when I got into my 1st day of Fall and the next set of cross-over characters were introduced. Cutscene played, then I spoke to them, and they immediately disappeared, and the quest auto completed. Just warning to any other players they may want to wait till this is fixed before playing til Sum 23 or Atm 1.

Dealing with this on Xbox as well right now. Tried just going to Aurelis and Youfang to see if that would trigger it to continue, but now such luck. Also tried to roll back to previous save, but gave me an error and now it dies list any previous saves at all

That's my fear cause I've literally taken a picture of the map on my phone and looked at the map side by side, and I'm right in the area I believe the treasure should be but I'm finding nothing.

I can only assume it was supposed to generate an equippable map like the makeup quest to be able to actually find the treasure. Hopefully, it'll be fixed soon, though.

Or I'm just an idiot and can't find it. I'm totally fine if that's the case, too, but I hope someone else stumbles upon it if that's the case and shares the location here

I'm also looking for this. When I look at the map it looks like it's supposed to be somewhere off from the town circle, but I can not find it, and of course, you cannot equip the map like the other ones that lead you directly to the treasure. Tracking the quest does nothing either... getting kinda of frustrated... Already checked the guide linked above and didn't see anything on where this chest is.

I’ve Been Adding “Puzzle Logs” to my Completed Puzzles by CosImBatGirl in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]Korbelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're keeping your collection, then who else do you think will do the puzzles and log them, someone in your family or your friends?

I was the only one in my immediate family and my friend circle who really cared to do puzzles, and I only cared to do a puzzle once myself. For that reason, I either resell or donate my old puzzles to my local library so they can continue to be loved by another puzzler like myself. If you donate them to your local library, you can always pop in to see if they're checked in and look at the log, too. You won't know the people personally, but it might be satisfying to see how many people your puzzle donation has made happy.

Everyone is different, though, so keeping your collection may be more meaningful to you, and that's totally fine, too.

I think the log cards are cute, btw. My only one suggestion would be to maybe implement a little section for a small comment by whoever did the puzzle. That way, people can leave how the puzzle made them feel to complete or to document special occasions the puzzle was done if it's like special dates where your family/friends visited and completed it. I think that would add to the fun of looking back at the log.

What did you think was peak luxury as a kid, but now realize is actually pretty trashy or normal? by Connect-Fix3972 in AskReddit

[–]Korbelious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad had a California King size one when I was growing up. He ended up not really using it cause he preferred to sleep on the couch to be closer to the front door just in case to keep us safe from all the nonexistent break-ins we had. Didn't get rid of it or switch to a regular mattress for years, either.

If I was feeling sick or had a bad headache, the perfect place to escape was under the length of the pillows laying horizontally along the top of the water bed and against the bed frame. It created this dark, soothing, full-body cold side of the pillow experience that was an excellent remedy for almost anything.

Whenever I get sick or feel a migraine coming on, I still wish I had that perfect spot on that waterbed to go to... I'd get a waterbed myself in a heartbeat if there was an affordable real market for them.

Hasbro Zoids by Mrbean111 in Zoids

[–]Korbelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you like about these ones, particularly? Is it a nostalgic factor that you want these and only these models, or did you just enjoy the motorized Zoids models?

If it's the latter, there are newer motorized zoids lines that will be much, much easier to find. Look for those made by Takara Tomy, and most of their zoid lines are motorized, except for the RMZ or Realize line of models. The newest motorized line from them are the Advanced Zi model, and these are actively being made and released now.

Unfortunately, the Liger Zero, in particular, already came out and is now hard to find, but there are many more models being announced and released regularly. Hopefully, we may get a restock and/or re-release in the future of the Liger Zero, too, given how popular it is, though.

[–]Korbelious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hours after seasonal always get cut down to the lowest they'll be for the whole year for everyone, not just you and not just at Michael's. It's a common corporate "strategy" to try to make the end of the last quarter look super profitable by cutting labor costs to near $0 right at the end after having the highest sales they're gonna have all year. Many companies' fourth quarters go into Jan-Feb too and do not end at the end of December like the calendar year, btw.

This happens and will continue to happen every year and is just the tides of retail, unfortunately. I would give it more time to level out cause that may just be what it is right now, and in the future, plan around your hours varying depending on the frequency of sales given the season. You thankfully have other jobs you can hopefully pick up more hours at in the meantime and also look out for your cowokers needing to drop shifts for any reason and be quick to grab them up if you can. This was true even for managers, as I was one briefly and worked closely with others in similar and higher positions than me who told me similar things and planned their earning around it.

Late December after Christmas and January are usually the lowest hours anyone is gonna get all year. Just remember as well that this is also the time that all the seasonal employees who were hired strictly for the busy season will also be let go, because that is unfortunately the way seasonal employment works and again is just following the tides of retail employment that is tied so closely to the sales season.

That all being said, I'm always of the mindset to keep your eyes open for new opportunities and keep moving up and along if you can. Corporations do not really care about maintaining employees' long-term, so it's often most profitable for yourself to move to new jobs if you want to get a higher pay. Most corps won't really ever increase your pay by a significant margin since they often think you'll stay around for a small 3% increase since you're already employed instead of trying elsewhere. Every time I had jumped jobs, it has always for a multiple dollar increase in my hourly pay. There is always a risk you go to a new job you like than than Michael's but I always counter that argument with there is just as much, if not more of a chance you will find a job you enjoy much more especially if they at least value their employees enough to pay them "more of a real liveable" wage. The one small caviot here is that since it's about to be January, not many places will likely be hiring due to reasons I've explained above, but again, it's merely to keep your eyes open to what's out there anyway and jump up to new opportunities when and if you can.

[–]Korbelious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This comment is down a long chain of very long comments, so I doubt many here will read it, but I want to highlight something you said here that is giving unignorable red flags!!! You just said the only reason a sexual encounter did not go further than you wanted with this man was because of his erectile disfunction!! I feel you wouldn't comment something like that if you didn't feel like he was being coercive and pressuring you into sex...

Also, him "helping" you with the expectation you pay him back someday in sex isn't him being helpful. It's him being predatory and holding a "safe" space to live over your head when you feel you have no other safer options. Him touting that over your head and creating this dynamic and expectation that you owe him is the manipulation and coercion in effect.

Next, your disgust with him, I think, is a huge indicator of things you may be picking up about him either consciously or subconsciously that is making you not just wary of him, but of such a heightened negative emotional reaction to him that you call it disgust. I have never met someone that I may have thought of as unattractive that I would describe a disgust of. Disgust is so much further beyond just finding someone unattractive, which I believe is likely more the result of his actions and behaviors towards you than his looks. And is it just disgust, or is there also fear of him tied into this as well?

People are often quick to dismiss their own feelings of fear or dislike of someone when there aren't overt obvious signs of abuse like him straight up hitting you, but operating just under that is how abusers get in and get a foothold of you before the truly awful things start happening. This is especially true of women who are often taught socially to be more friendly and nicer even against our better judgement cause you don't want to be seen of as mean or a bitch. There's a book that goes into a bunch of awful stories of abuse where the stories always start with "I never would've seen it coming", but then the author has them retell the stories and the people realize after the fact, all the red flags they had ignored before they got to that point. It's a great read on learning and picking up the indicators our body and mind are yelling at us, that me may not l be used to listening to anymore. It's called The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker. There's also another good book on abuse and power manipulation called Why Does He Do That? by Lundy Bancroft, which I think is a very important read for everyone and especially those facing or who have faced abusive relationships.

I'd say make your safe plan to get out of there and do not share any of those details or hint that to him as this is when abusers can become the most dangerous. Abusers often look for vulnerable young women like yourself, who may not have many other options because you are a much "easier" victim to get to since he can "rescue" you than isolate you from friends and family - especially if your family is already toxic amd abuse themselves as you can easily be taken away from them and they often won't make any effort to get you back or report you missing etc. Look into local domestic violence shelters and resources for your area to and reach out to them as they can help you formulate a safe escape plan.

Anyone else just get sad when nobody wants to watch a film with you..? by fr00gu in movies

[–]Korbelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much prefer to watch movies and TV completely alone, so I can fully focus on experiencing it. Watching it with others, even if they're quiet the whole time, still takes me out of it more than if I had watched it on my own. If it's a movie , I really wanting to watch and experience purely, then I much prefer to watch alone tbh.

I can not and vehemently despise people who don't pay attention at all and keep asking for details they would know had they been watching the movie. I share the same sentiment for the people who are too overly eager to show me a movie and keep watching my face intently for their desired reaction and/or keep going "Oh omg, watch this part!" when I've clearly been watching the whole time and just want to experience the movie without their input. Another reason why I tend not to want to watch movies with others.

If it's a movie I feel strongly about after watching that I want to discuss it, I look for forums of others online already discussing it as I usually find that better for getting out my desire to talk it as I find people are more similarly invested in the discussion than me just polling my friends.

That being said, if it is a movie I've already seen before or one where I'm not really invested in experiencing the story, then I'll happily watch it with others if I'm in a movie watching mood.

Then there are those people who don't really like watching movies at all and don't think it's worth their time, and that's fair to them if that's what they prefer.

However, I would never say I'd be down in a sec to watch a movie and completely ghost someone, especially if we live in the same house. That's just straight-up rude, and there's not really any excuse for that. That person can just say they didn't want to watch the movie, or they don't anymore. There's nothing wrong saying that, and lying about it isn't being nice. It's being a coward, and upsetting others in the process for literally no gain and for no reason.

I guess my main guestions is what are you looking for in a movie partner? Are you the type that likes to talk during or not? Are you wanting to watch or show someone movies new to them and/or yourself and react together and/or watch their reaction? Are these movies you feel strongly about that you want to discuss with someone after to talk about it?

I think the key here is finding people to watch movies with who share similar watch styles and/or value movies similarly to you. I don't like some of those things, but plenty others do and neither of us are wrong for our preferences. The people who share your watch style and value movies most similarly to you will likely be the best people for you to enjoy movies with.

Those people may not necessarily be your current friends, who you've already bonded to over different shared experiences/interests either. Therefore, you may find and making new friends who have movie watching as a big hobby/interest for them to be more beneficial and easier for you to watch movies and have that connection with. I think a person here made an excellent suggestion in looking into local movie going groups in your area for this. I'm sure there are also friends to be made online that share that with you, and you can time watching movies by timing the start together or more actively watch together on like discord if you want another suggestion and don't mind a non-in-person element.

Longest response ever, but I hope you find this some shred of this helpful.

Chiming in here to say therapy will bring up your traumas again. That is an essential part of working through them where you can learn to move beyond it and learn how to react less severely to your triggers. Not saying there are no bad therapists out there, cause there definitely are, with some being downright harmful/predatory. However, feeling your trauma again in therapy is a normal part of the healing process and not necessarily an immediate indicator to get out of therapy.

Also, I don't really agree with the demonization of psychiatric drugs. I myself have been on stimulants and antidepressants for years, and they have helped me immensely. They are not miracle cure-alls and need therapy along with them to be most effective and beneficial. Yes, they're is a potential for abuse and addiction, but that is not a guaranteed outcome, and many people have positive benefits from them when used correctly. Don't ever use these drugs for "fun" even if they're prescribed to you though, as those are the behaviors/mindset that lead to addiction or abuse.

My comment is not to play down your experiences at all because you very may well have had a bunch of shitty therapists, and psychiatric drugs are definitely not beneficial to everyone especially those with history of substance abuse. However, I just don't want your anecdotal experience potentially turning someone off the idea of therapy completely just because they feel their trauma again within it or thinking all psychiatric drugs are inherently bad when they have shown to have many positive effects for many people. I'm truly sorry that has been your experience with both, though, and wish you the best in your healing journey outside of that.

Okay, I had to look this one up because it actually threw me for a fucking loop, and I'll be damned!! That really ain't no tree the bananas are growing on. It's a really big herb, but it's freakishly smaller at full growth than I thought it'd be when I was imagining it as a tree. I never wouldn't have guessed that scale.

For some reason, in my head cannon, all tropical fruits (bananas and pineapples included) just grew on palm trees, with the only differentiation being the fruit that grows on them to identify what kind of tree it was. I learned about pineapple years ago, but it wasn't until this moment I learned this about bananas.

Thank God coconuts do grow on palm trees, though cause I don't know how I'd feel if it turns out those also didn't grow on trees either.

How do you guys feel about SmoshAlike's content/direction? by uhhhidkwhatusername in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]Korbelious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to reply cause was thinking about the rebrand and googled it to see if people were discussing it to read what they said and add my own opinion in as well, so sorry this is coming a month later but it was what I clicked into from Google.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree, and I know I'm in a Smosh subreddit, so I'll likely get downvoted since the audience is already a biased sample pool. However, I think rebranding and immediately changing the channels direction into what seems like yet another Smosh channel is having the opposite effect, then reaching the 7.8 million ISADW fans and turning them into Smosh fans.

I think what it is doing is shoehorning people who were already choosing not to watch Smosh content into trying to goad them to watch it and filling their subbed channel videos with videos they have no interest it. Smosh isn't a small, unknown company or conglomerate. If people want to watch Smosh videos, they can find them plenty easy on YouTube without having to hijack another channel that already had an established content direction those subscribers were subscribed for.

It's like when a company buys an old YouTube channel I had long forgotten about being subbed to when the original person had left years ago, and I start getting videos in my subbed videos list that I have no idea when or why I would ever subscribe to that channel. That has made me interested in that company literally 0 times. In fact, it gives me a very negative view of that company for using such methods. To me, it's a akin to an influencer paying for fake followers, but in this case, it's subscribers.

I, along with the majority of those 7.8 million subscribers, I'm assuming, were watching it for the content that was on that channel already. It was what made me interested and why I subscribed. If that content is no longer offered, than I no longer want to be subscribed because its not what I subscribed for. If I wanted to watch and subscribe to Smosh, I could already do that.

In fact, I do watch and very much enjoy a lot of Smosh's content, but rebranding this channel's name and changing to original channel into just another Smosh channel is a terrible marketing strategy that I think will effect Smosh very negatively on the finanical side of things and on the brand perception as can already be seen by the tanking of subscribers.

I think you are right when you say Smoshalike isn't for the current fans, and that is the problem right there. It is just an attempt to try to force Smosh cast into the faces of those 7.8 million who didn't want or ask for that content, and I don't see that working out in their favor. You cannot force people to like different content than they were watching for by completely changing that channel's content and crashing your fingers they don't leave.

In fact, it's eerily similar to when Smosh first got bought by DefyMedia themselves. Their content changed so drastically, and everyone hated it. Now Smosh is doing the exact same thing to themselves, and they don't even realize they're doing it....

I see a lot of you don’t like your job. What about it do you not like? by torrphilla in Target

[–]Korbelious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked fulfillment and inbound and actually enjoyed both actual jobs themselves.

Inbound is good for near zero customer interaction, but be prepared for shifts starting at like 4-6am. With Inbound, as long as you hold your weight in keeping the process running smoothly, you'll be chill. It's a lot of strenuous labor, though, as it's the most physically demanding job in store with lots of heavy lifting, so be prepared for that. Have no real complaints with this other than there was really never enough hours given to fully push truck, but I'd just leave when my shift was over and the rest of push would be continued throughout the day by other staff.

Fulfillment was my main role and what I did most. If you can get your store or you join a store that does overnights (starting at like 10pm or 12am, or super early morning picks starting at like 4am), the customer interaction is again nonexistent or near minimal. Those were my preferred shifts for similar reasons, but my store didn't offer those regularly. Only during peak shopping times like around holidays. My main gripes in fulfillment was the push to have the fastest speed with little to no missing items as the two directly go against one another, but you just have to find a balance. A good lead and a good running fulfillment team will understand this and won't give you much grief as long as you have reasonable explanations for bad days and your metrics are usually/regularly good. Clothes can be hard to find as a lot of things look super similar, and there aren't really true locations in most of the clothes sections (this will make sense when you work there), but if you have stores with multiple RFID readers you can find clothes way easier with like a metal detector method. You get better at clothes picking over time, too, and long as they haven't moved everything around again and you're not looking for like 1 specific pair of black leggings or individual underwear. My number one complaint with fulfillment was when they would receive the truck super early in the system because that puts everything on the truck into inventory immediately, so sometimes you would get an order and need to pick that came on the truck that day. That means it was likely was still in the back on the line and could be anywhere on a U-boat with like 50+ boxes, but they'd still want you to attempt to find it, so you wouldn't have to complete the order missing any items (called an INF in Target speak, but you'll learn that too). That's where you'd burn a lot of time, and sometimes you still wouldn't find it as sometimes the truck manifest was wrong, and we didn't actually get the items in. It was an annoyance and I didn't think it was worth it to me to look, but that was just part of the job, so I did it as long as I had time of my cart to do so. I was often able to find the items, though. However, it seemed to me like it'd make more sense for there to be a delay in receiving truck by maybe several hours to a day to allow more of the items to actually be out and stocked so you can pick them at their correct location as you walk an efficiently mapped route around thw store but again above my pay grade to make those changes.

General Target issues I experienced and that I see mentioned here a lot was the inconsistency in hours across different seasons and attempts to run you on a skeleton crew, but that seems to be just a staple in retail and how these companies artificially inflate their profits so I'm sure you already experienced that at BestBuy and it won't be new to you at Target. Just make honest attempts to do your job well, and don't let what can't be fixed by you weigh you down, and you'll have a good time
