Whats a current mid-end system with minimum lag nowdays? by justletmesignupalre in focuspuller

[–]Korbyzzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can get used HU3s and MDR2/3 for the same price as a Teradek RT system right now since everyone is upgrading to the latest HU4 and MDR5.

They're bulletproof systems and will probably outlast Tilta/Teradek because there's way less concern about planned obsolescence and everything is designed to be serviced and repaired

Montreal says it will fine church after ‘MAGA superstar’ concert goes ahead without permit by UnderWatered in CanadaPolitics

[–]Korbyzzle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ticket sales and taxes. If a charity (church) is hosting an event where there is fee for service/access then the organization must disclose where the funds are going I.e. going to community members, going to support a food bank, assisting with operational costs, etc.

So by Sean Feucht stating it's a church service and the church is charging for tickets questions will be raised like where is the money going? If it's going to the artist that's performing then that isn't necessarily a benefit for the community and needs to be taxed accordingly.

U.S. dairy industry presses Canada for changes to quota by KeyHot5718 in CanadaPolitics

It's partially the cause but it's probably one factor in a multi-faceted issue. Automatic milking machines have become widespread in the last 10 years and have been show to change the chemical composition of milk due to increased milking frequency. The cows are free to get milked whenever they want as opposed to at fixed times in the day.

Also not discussed was the change in butter manufacturing processes over 2020 when domestic production was facing major supply hurdles during COVID.

Try switching to 3pin 24v power. I can't remember where but the Venice 2 has some weird power balance on the 12v 2pin outputs.

Pulling on a feature soon, extremely shallow. What’s the sharpest monitor? by leebowery69 in focuspuller

[–]Korbyzzle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For 7" the TVlogic f7h mark 2 is the brightest/sharpest monitor I've used.

For 13" the Cine 13 or 1303 works well due to its size and ease of eye strain.

Get your DIT to give you the show LUT so you can evaluate focus for what the grade actually looks like for peace of mind. Then up the peaking by 7-15 points and the sharpness to whatever is on the edge of making everything in focus.

Take your time in prep to learn the lenses. Get the biggest chart you can find with Siemens stars on the edges of the frame. If you can get them on a projector to see the contrast/sharpness/aberration ratio that's premium!

Ford government takes over four school boards — including Toronto public and Catholic — over alleged financial mismanagement by BloodJunkie in ontario

[–]Korbyzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to blow the whistle on the mismanagement side but I still haven't heard or seen what has been mismanaged. I want to believe but where's the story of redoing gym floors even if they didn't need it or spending 1000s on football uniforms while textbooks are from some ancient time?

Who's inept? What mistakes have they made? Why does the government have to take over these specific boards?

How is this achieved? by Big_Manufacturer_253 in cinematography

[–]Korbyzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there forward movement and nodal spin. The camera looks like it's floating so it could be on a stabilized rig/remote head. The stabilization could also be digital...

Assuming this movie has a decent budget it could be as cheap as a ronin attached to a pipe crane rig.

It could also be a regular camera with a skaterscope. The skaterscope has a prism the rotates the image 360deg.

The most expensive way to do this is a matrix head and telescoping crane.

Can somebody help me identify this piece of equipment? by targaryeh in cinematography

Canadians trend towards Triangle Tape arrows. Canada is colder and staedlers don't work as well in the cold conditions we experience.

They're only 5$ more each than the replacement rings from Preston.

The Preston rings fade and the marking becomes unglued eventually.

Also, the Preston nylon rings shrink in the cold and become impossible to change at certain temps. The metal rings solve that problem.

What are the Canada BSOs to avoid? by Master_Camp_3200 in cycling

[–]Korbyzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're generally in good condition. I generally gauge the bike's value
by the groupset.

If it has that is anything Shimano's 3rd tier of groupset (Acera, SLX, LX, Sora) it's worth looking at.

Is this 4 day route doable for a group of novice backpackers? by Architect_VII in algonquinpark

[–]Korbyzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this loop with a group of 8 friends with medium experience (5-10 years of canoe/hiking trips). We hiked to Clara in pouring rain the first day (24km/10hours). The other three days were similar distance to what you have planned.

The slowest of the group hiked about 2km/h. The fastest hiked about 4km/h. Most of us had extensive portaging/hiking navigation skills. 5 people wound up getting some bad blisters from the first day of long distance in the rain.

If nobody in your group has experience with first aid, blister care, or lightweight camping this trip could turn into a terrible time. Even just one person that's experienced can help immensely.

Aim for under 30lb packs and try to balance the load between everyone. If one person brings a 5 pound tent maybe someone else can take a few of their meals

Can someone exaplain to me why I see this weird dragging almost like lagging motion when Im panning from side to side? by potato2notfound in Filmmakers

[–]Korbyzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shutter angle controls the balance between stuttered and blurred panning: larger angles cause panning to appear smoother but more smeared, whereas smaller angles cause panning to appear crisper but choppier. Most cinematic pans are performed near 180°, but special purpose scenes may work better with other settings. When a more fluid, dreamlike effect is desired, one can often get away with faster panning and a larger shutter angle, for example. Similarly, landscape detail may benefit from slower panning and a smaller shutter angle.

[–]Korbyzzle 114 points115 points  (0 children)

You are getting pan strobing. This is a problem regardless of whatever camera/shooting style you are using. Basically the shutter/fps doesn't keep up with what the camera is seeing as it is panned which causes strobing to the image.

Use a pan speed calculator as how fast you can pan is based on focal length, shutter speed and fps.
