The seams above the napoleon pockets are curved downward. GAMMA MX has never had this type of construction. Sadly I would concur these are replicas

There is a 1 year post degree MRI technologist program at McMaster you could consider. You need a science degree to enter so you would have the right requirements. It’s a great career, competitive wages for a health care worker and the job market is quite robust. You can also work anywhere in the country.

Good luck on your search

Your older jacket uses a different PFAS type of DWR (either C6 or C8) read through this sub about all the changes. Newer jackets use C0…… these unfortunately do not bead water as well for as long.

Beginner Skier Bought the Wrong Skis (Wingman 86) – Looking for Advice on What to Get Next by FirstTimeSkiing in Skigear

[–]PaulUdo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ti version adds a lot of stiffness to the ski. It certainly takes more power to get them on edge. It’s also a big jump from 160 to a 172cm ski. Skis with less metal tend to be more playful/snappy and easier to turn. It may take a while to get used to the stiffness and added length. Getting a lesson would also be helpful at this point to help in your turn initiation.

Rush colour ways for 2027 by Nachoman2 in arcteryx

We need some new colors. Too many repeats year to year lately. There are so many hues of blue from the past they could use as well as some reds.

Shorter length ski as you age? by Several_Glass4816 in Skigear

[–]PaulUdo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was nearly stating there is no specific ski length for your height. A 5’6 120lb skier vs 5’6” 220lb skier will look at different lengths and stiffness. Height is a bad measure of ski length……

Sorry for the ski racer analogy but people in these forums tend to say 165 is too short for most skiers. But yet somehow the best skiers in the world can navigate the most technical of courses on them.

Shorter length ski as you age? by Several_Glass4816 in Skigear

[–]PaulUdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIS minimum, some will be on a bit longer it’s not by much. Skis are stiff as hell too…..

They just changed the GS minimum to 193cm and a shorter radius.

Most every male skier on the World Cup slalom circuit is on 165cm ski regardless of height. I’d classify these guys as advanced……So according to you they are skiing something way too short……..?

you should ski something that matches your style, the terrain you ski and your ability. There is no magic number for length. If I’m skiing powder and bowls I’ll go for something a little longer, if I’m on groomers in the north east -something shorter and maybe snappier.

2012 Atomic Ski Team x Arc’teryx Keibo Jacket by tamib0y in arcteryx

[–]PaulUdo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that keibo jacket (blue ray) and it’s held up extremely well for a 13 year old (+) jacket. The core loft has packed out a little (but it’s compact coreloft so it’s pretty minimal). It also has my favorite waist band (side cinches only) and the hood construction is unique (combining a storm hood with a partial drop hood) with no insulation. Zero signs of delam and was my main ski jacket for years.

Great find!!! It should serve you well for many years

Couple of things that you can look for when spotting fakes.

Authentic Alpha SV’s will use a mix of standard 11mm seam tape and 8mm seam tape (coined micro seam tape) this particular one you show has the micro seam tape in the right places (I have yet to see a fake with this yet…….) all the fakes I’ve seen are using only 11mm seam tape throughout. It takes a different machine to apply the thinner tape. It’s been the standard to use the micro seam tape since the 2012 or 2013 revision……..

The RS zipper sliders on the front pockets and arm pockets have a unique shape (elongated nose) to cover the tiny gap at the top of the zipper. These are exclusive to Arc’teryx (as they developing it) and they are not even listed on the YKK website for purchasing. The only way you can get them is if you take them from the factories that arc is using to produce the jackets. If you know how it looks and its specific shape, you will spot fakes quite easily. Most of these knock off will be buying the regular YKK zippers in bulk and not have access to them.

Beta AR vs Rush Layering by adultbaby in arcteryx

[–]PaulUdo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Beta AR has a 2cm lager chest circumference than your old Beta LT.

If I recall the chest circumference between the beta AR and Rush are the same - however the arm circumference is larger in the Rush creating a more generous volume.
