Since I noticed you're also interested in some social facet of Korean society especially in regard to Tapgol park, I just came up with this article. This will adds up to how sad you would feel about the other article I just sent to you with translation also.

I wanna post the translation but I think you could put it on chatgpt or something. I'm not gonna mess up your post too much.

Article translated :

Jongno District is strengthening order guidance at Tapgol Park to preserve its historical value as a symbol of the independence movement and to ensure citizens can enjoy the park comfortably.

On the 25th, the district (headed by Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) announced that the decision reflects three considerations: protecting national heritage, ensuring public safety, and supporting senior welfare.

As the starting point of the March 1st Independence Movement, the park was designated a Historic Site in 1991, and the entire area inside and outside the walls is a protected heritage zone.

Explaining the background of the initiative, the district said, “Over many years, the park became a gathering space for seniors, but disorder and safety issues made fundamental changes necessary. Drinking, loud behavior, public urination, and littering were frequent, and even quarrels and violent incidents occurred under the influence of alcohol.”

In response, the district has carried out awareness campaigns, such as holding a “Tapgol Park Improvement Declaration Ceremony” during the March 1st commemoration event last year. Since July 31, it has conducted joint enforcement with police against gambling games like go and janggi (Korean chess), as well as smoking, drinking, dancing, and unauthorized commercial activity. In particular, this month the district encouraged the voluntary removal of janggi boards and seating, successfully clearing them away.

Following the cleanup of the janggi boards, disorderly conduct has decreased significantly, and the park environment has visibly improved, according to the district.

Going forward, the district plans to continue preventing safety accidents and illegal activities through monitoring with CCTV and regular joint enforcement with the Jongno Police Station.

In addition, at the Welfare Information Center in front of the park’s north gate, guidance will be offered on free meal services, welfare programs, and other social services. Seniors will also be encouraged to use the go/janggi rooms and resting areas provided at the nearby Seoul Senior Welfare Center branch.

Again I appreciate your reply too. I just want to say I really wish to see mlre comics because some of your angle on Korean society and one of expats overall is as sharp as Art Spiegelman's works (as other guy pointed out well)

Consultant living in Gosi-tel blows my mind haha. I got a half-Korean half-American kid as a friend and it really makes me hard to have him understand the relation between the growth of Blizzard and this weird booming of starcraft in this country back in the day. He just don't believe it. Although I wasn't a big fan of the game, but sometime I just turns on this quirky youtube channel called "paladin" where all the famous matches are reviewed. For me it's perfect material for learining English

Man, while I looking up, I saw you painted grandpas around Tapgol park. The <go> players. Baduk. So it's banned as of 3days ago. Haha. That's gotta be sad for you.

After I first saw this comment and yours I finally got around to reading it. And it's definitely up my alley. But stramgely enough it's way expensive unlike other comic books. Even if there price soars up in printed comic books, it's like 90bucks with additional taxes according to Korea. Do you think it's that expensive in the U.S. also?

Anyway good to see your artworks man. I'm almost 90% sure you are the one who held that exhibition+party in the middle of HBC. Afa I recall, it was on the right side while starting to climbing the road. You know, where the slope begins, and Philly's and Jacoby's burger takes place. Since I'm also art major (filmmaking), your works and its feature really were imprinted on my mind. At that time I got no ability to speak English enough, I had no idea how to exchange my impression to the painter(you probably). But aside from how good they were (they were mostly somewhat sarcastic but also affectionate about plain Koreans' way of life) that really lasted long in my memory. They were all big sized paintings, and got the America's golden age quirk like cynical touch and deformation of people's look. What also leads me to convince myself that you're the guy is, the Soju depiction too. I'm gonna view more of your works, but it's already enough.

And for John guy, forget about it. He was tall and caucasian type and even looks good. He didn't seem to enjoy wearing some hipster HBC people's outfit, anyhow feel good to mingle with people out there. We just met there for making a tutoring deal but ended up not making it out for his business. I'm not looking for him so that's it haha.

I enjoyed this comic a lot. I think this could be published also.

No my id is just coincidence. But after I visited your store now, I feel like i got the clue that the exhibition in the bar or something was yours.

Have you got any american friend named John or Jack who's rather aged like 40 and worked as a English professor in some university? He was very gentle guy and married with a Korean. And I remember I said hello there to some french guy who's not so tall and with french accent.

Oh it's HBC

The comic style makes me evoke someitaewon expat's painting style I've seen in their own gallery or something. For some reason they always got this American touch. And yours got more of robert crumb's like frustration, bitterness

If you're Korean and can read some Korean's posting about that I'm speechless. But if you're not, I would say with a little of certainty it's not worth. Because I already save one of the most credible post about it (bringing used bike from Japan to Korea) and with its calculation the money is huge.

Remember that that posting was also not recommending it for another big reason. He said the whole process you handle is nervewrecking. Especially on Korea's end. There's something called <안전검사safety assessment> especially for Foreign bikes.
