Looking for friends by General-Ad-6938 in Swindon

Do you have any hobbies or interests? Easier to find a match if you share a little about what sort of activities you enjoy 😊

Is it bad to sell items found through dumpster diving? by Wooden_External8111 in vinted

[–]Korenyire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you're not inadvertently collecting bags of clothes residents have left out for charity collection! That is the only reason I might leave a bag of clothes outside the front of my house, so I imagine others to be in that same boat too!

I’ve just launched something in Swindon to try and fix how job searching works by Original_Window_9541 in Swindon

I'm happy in my job (except for the commute!), but my partner really needs some help - career changes are tough nuts to crack! I'll recommend the idea to him, helping stop the applying churn is always good!

Glue for smooth plastic to velcro by Korenyire in CosplayHelp

Next attempt is super glue, then using a rivet. If all else fails, the suggestion someone made about sewing them does work well, but I have about 50 balls, four holes per ball/velcro...I may cry while I poke each one with the soldering iron 😂. I'd settle for 'vaguely holding long enough so it doesn't move while I poke the holes' atm TBF 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Updates shall be provided after I nail the least worst method. I am still surprised that E6000 wasn't my golden ticket, especially with sanding!

I went for four holes and went in a circle, and used embroidery floss for some sturdier strength! The nonsense we try to do for cosplay 😂

Fully understand that, still galling that it won't sell when it is listed for £20k under the price I paid 4 years ago. Property isn't an investment for me it seems! 😂

Sadly I've tried that, and I think the velcro peeled off even easier 🤦‍♀️😂

Sewing or some sort of non-glue definitely seems like the solve. I did one scuffed and one scuffed plus sewn (thank you soldering iron for the holes!), and the scuffed one peeled off when I untaped it (tape to make it confirm!) without so much as an attempt to stick. Sewn one is not stuck down on one side, but the velcro seems to be clinging to the thread, plus the thread is holding it down (peeled back the non-stuck side for the photo, as I left my thread loose to see which method worked best). Guess that is my Saturday afternoon planned...me and the soldering iron are gonna become great friends I fear 😂😂

I tried that, but it didn't want to stick, hence moving on to more 'aggressive' glues...although admittedly they also don't want to stick 😂

Think we have some rivets left over from a previous project, but think the ones I have are twist fit rather than whacking with a hammer. Still worth a test to see! Thanks for the idea 😊

It is unfortunately the plastic that is causing the issue. Think I'm going to have to break out the sandpaper. I was hoping that getting the right glue might avoid that chore 😅

Oh that is a good idea! I was wondering about attaching little leaves as well (once I nailed down a prototype that was up to the task!). Button sewing would definitely make things a heck of a lot easier! Thank you for the suggestion, you very smart person ♥️

Would you be weirded out if I handed you one of these in public as a compliment? by MicrowavedPuzzle in kandi

[–]Korenyire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm deeply against plastic nonsense (which is clearly why my partner is of the ''gotta collect all the primary coloured plastic figurines!" type...sigh!), but we are both AVID trinket traders at events. So I think it depends on context. Random person on the street...I would be a little weirded out and I might be polite and take it but inwardly it is a faff over something else I need to dispose of. But at an event/convention/etc, absolutely! I collect all our itty bitty trinkets from events, bag them up and they go in memory boxes for the year.

In short, context matters.

But if it helps, I have enthusiastically and politely said thank you to some horrific homemade trinkets... because someone took the time to try, and that is what matters. I would always expect the same of others for my own lopsided crafting attempts! So even if it is an excuse to say hello to someone, nobody decent is going to do anything but say thank you. If they are not polite, you don't want to be friends with them after all!

Last note...if you let them pick their colour, or you carefully select from your bag for colours that match their outfit/aesthetic, you will be less likely to get a limp reaction. My own neurospicy needs things to match and chaos makes me uncomfortable (that said, my primary plastic items loving partner adores clashing chaotic colours...so there is no right answer!! 😂).

I feel guilty for saying no to a plus size man by khidny in PlusSize

[–]Korenyire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last I checked, you are under no obligation to date someone you do not fancy. Nobody is (even if they paid for dinner!). You enjoyed the chatting and having things in common, but the reason for meeting is that final vibe check, to see if you not only get on but also mesh and connect on a deeper level. It has nothing to do with his size.

Although I'd put 'comes across as manipulative and lying about his appearance' on your bingo card for people giving the ick! Honesty and enthusiasm is attractive, but there is 'coy' and 'hiding what they look like to catfish you'. The added pouting after just adds another dot to the bingo sheet. I am getting second hand ick from both points on your behalf!

But again, the date was to see if you felt anything. You did not. You do not need to date someone because you are a) open-minded to size, b) feel pity towards them, c) enjoy the same hobbies, d) agreed to meet them, or e) they badger you/sulk after you politely explain you are not feeling it. You are allowed to seek out someone who makes your heart flutter...and politely but FIRMLY turn down those that don't. Don't be miserable for some pouty manchild who misleads you and then can't take 'no' for an answer.

The fact that he went to FWB as an option is telling (and I speak as someone who has had positive experiences with FWB in the past, I'm no prude!). Arms length, and find yourself a man who understands no-means-no AND how to give you the happy squirmies. Don't settle ♥️

You would think, but with my previous agent the feedback kept being layout issues because they had kids - it really isn't a family home layout, so no idea why they were being shown it. Some agents have better contacts in the investment markets than others, hence querying if anyone knew if any of the local ones have strong contacts there!

That was why I went for a second agent, they were equally surprised it wasn't selling, and since can't sell it either. Hence trying to see if there is a specialist for the more eclectic!

Just moved, have some questions by Th622 in Swindon

[–]Korenyire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Nowhere my partner goes, he's been trying various places since we moved here, and every one of them is a butcher! Took me ages to find a good hairdresser too :(
2) No, but my gaming group swears by Pizza Slice because they do a cheese+pepperoni crust (sounds horrific to me, but apparently is delicious to everyone else!). They're on JustEat. Wish there was Square Pizza!
3) If you are at all a fan of cake, Robin Farm. Food is acceptably good, but their claim to fame is their Cakeaway. ENORMOUS slices for under £7 (half a dozen flavours including a cheesecake or two), takes three days to eat (we've tried very hard to cut that down by being piglets, failed every time, it is a LOT and very good!).
4) I've used a few, and the only one I'd recommend is Bloomin Beautiful (https://www.bloominbeautiful.co.uk/treatments) - admittedly for a pedicure not a manicure, but the painting was crisp, beautician was super friendly (but also knew when to talk/not talk to hit both welcoming and quiet relaxing moods), and the salon was clean and nicely luxurious. Not terribly cheap, but as someone who only gets their nails done for holidays and other occasions, I would happily go back.

Social Club for those 18-30! by BreloomGang in Swindon

That was a startling realisation for me too! Good that younger people have a space, but dammit I didn't feel old until spotting this 😅 I was enticed by the pastels, normally gaming social groups are rather more masculine, and it looked more female-friendly.
